I'm sure that Markie is right.  The exhaust on a classic is different to a newage.

Probably the case.....bit worrying that Walldonway couldn't offer an explanation though.

Thanx Markie - if anyone can offer a serious answer I'd be grateful.  Is there really such a difference? Perhaps I should call Walldonway. 

The exhaust is different, the ECU is different but it can be remapped, you have what i think they call a phase 1 (or 1.5) engine where the newages have a phase 2 engine, i'm think there are other differences which i'm sure someone will enlighten us to [;)]

There is 1 big difference thats not been mentioned, the shape of the car[:P][:o]

PMSL @ Markie.  Probably doesn't help, but got this from the Scottish Scoobies forum...

For the WRX it seems to be Prodrive Backbox, Decat Pipe, Tubo/Intercooler Y-Pipe and mapped ECU

And for the STi - As above but with Fuel Pump and Sports cat downpipe.
