Hey my first post - few questions

Hey everyone.

I am going to look at a 2001 Subaru Wrx tomorrow. It has full Subaru service and Mot history with 62k on the clock. Cam belt and clutch changed at 55k.

I have searched a bit on here to try find out what to look for but what are the main noises, smoke etc etc to look for?

 Any advice would help.

 Thanks

Chris

Hi bud and welcome.

The first question i will ask is are you geting the car from a Subaru dealer. If so make sure that it has the subaro proven warenty on it and if it does you will not have to worry as all will be covered if you have any problems.

i recently pulled my 02 wrx engine to pieces and it was good for another 50 000 without anything needing changing ( my car is on 57000 miles)

Good luck and enjoy.

Hi thanks for the welcome.

No unfortunatly its a private sale so therefore not from a Subaru dealer.

The ones at the Subaru are just a bit out of my price range at the moment.

 Ok thanks

Welcome m8,

you seem to have got the first part right as it has a full subaru service and mot history, you maybe better posting a link to the car (if there is one) and some of the guys on here may recognise it and be able to give you some history etc..

good luck

hi m8 welcome to sidc be very careful when buying private, you have little or no recourse if your car goes t i t s up just ask my son £2000+ repair bill and still not on road yet,[:@] most imprezas will have  been thrashed about but hopefully the owner will have taken the right precautions ie right fuel , regular oil changes in between dealer servicing ,give time for turbo cooling(idle time after fast run) etc HOPE I AM NOT PUTTING YOU OFF , I STILL LOVE THE LITTLE BUGGERS sorry did say BURGERS  MMMMMMM BURGERS, sorry for that HOMER MOMENT [:$]HA HA GO ON DO IT BUY A SCOOBIE AND HAVE SOME FUN, your a long time deed  regards  geo[H] PS JUST SEEN ADD NICE CAR M8

welcome to the forum.

if you are unsure of the condition or how it was looked after, get the AA/RAC to do a vehicle check on it, they should pick up any problems/things not quite right.
If you are still not sure walk away.  Plenty of good well looked after scoobies out there and its not worth the hassle of fixing a scoob if you rush in and buy one without checking it out.

I have carried out an HPi check etc but will check a AA check if I am an certain.

Away to leave in half an hour to go and see it so I will report back later on today.
