Heretik Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Hey folks, A few Questions for ya.. I gota nicely lowered Silver '98 Sti, (standard shocks, super stiff Ohlins springs) and although handling is great- I wana improve it. I recently noticed an ad for ABP motorsport that offered a "fast road geometry- wheel alignment and camber check/set up", @ £120- saying that they will give you a better turn in- hopefully helping to dial out a bit of the famed impretza understeer; reckon this is worth the money? - Or does anyone have any other suggestions? (If only I got a type RA with the selectable Diff!). I heard the anti lift kits are good too - and uprating the anti roll bars.. Anyone had these done? Anyway- if anyone has had any experience of tinkering in this area I'd appriciate suggestions> And more to the point, is there anywhere in Kent that are any good at tuning impretza's in this sort of way? Something closer to home would be good as ABP are way up Cheshire! Cheers
granby Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Welcome to Kent Scoobies For geometry i would go to Elite http://www.elitedirect.com/ and speak to Barry, you'll also get a SIDC discount ALK & uprated ARB's are a good mod and will also help reduce the understeer Not many places in Kent but you could try Barrett's motorsport devision in Canterbury, quite a few of us use Xtreme http://www.xtremescoobies.ltd.uk/ who will also be able to do geometry soon (in about a months time hopefully), also Mocom http://www.mocomracing.com/ are getting a good reputation for there work

Heretik Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 Awesome, thanks- I'll check that out. Thanks for the welcome too, I'm based in Wye and work just outside Maidstone so maybe I will try and get along to a meet sometime. I've been down to Subaru/Barretts before, I saw one of the mech's who used to work on the WRC cars; helped sort out a small suspension issue I had before for free, was well pleased. Nice guys down there- very helpful. Thanks again for the info. Cheers
baser999 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Next meet is on the 16th - theres a seperate thread with map!
Dalthegooner Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Hello mate and welcome to the madhouse [] I agree with Granby. Elite are the dogs danglies. Was there again at the weekend and the service and help was second to none [Y] Didn't know they do an SIDC discount though [] Could have saved me a few quid!

Pele Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Barratts Motorsport are no longer trading, but the main dealership still does the servicing under frachise... jon I thought they lost/gave up the Subaru franchise? I was told it looked like they were not going to be selling or servicing Subaru's last year when I test drove a very nice new one[]
j-k Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 You may well be right Pele, but i'm sure that i have read that they are Subaru Service agents only.... jon
Heretik Posted February 7, 2007 Author Posted February 7, 2007 Thanks for the welcomes Yeah Barretts in Canterbury do still service Subaru's. The mech down there (I forget his name) was really knowledgable and soon sorted me out. Infact I had been to 3 other garages with the same problem several months back- which it took him 2 minutes to fix. Basically one of my struts was a little loose and making a slight banging noise- and the 3 garages before me had told me that they couldnt find anything wrong with it only to saying there "was a noise" !!?? This guy sorted it within minutes, amazing what a difference a good mechanic makes. I dont know if they take on other jobs down there I didnt enquire, but he even took a short drive with me to see what he thought of my motor and give me a (very favourable!) oppinion on my buy. He worked on WRC cars at any rate and I would highly recommend using them.. though I dunno if they do anything other than servicing.. maybe I will ask in the next few days. And anyone know of any good (and cheap!?) bodyshop/scratch dent repair places? A lorry just caught my rear drivers side door whilst I was on the slip road getting onto the M26 this evening to my complete and utter disbelief... I'm still kinda confused as to how it happened, think it was a foriegn lorry- didnt feel like much contact, but having looked at it I got a little scratch I'm looking into gettin Chips away to take a look at it... but if anyone has any better suggestions... Cheers
