Bluebotle Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Thinking of buying new suspension for my car to replace the knocking standard ones. Does anyone know which is the best alternative and how much they will be? I am looking at replacing the front two first then the rear later. Cheers Lee
Bluebotle Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 Also hehe, does anyone know why the standard knock in the first place?? Would it cause the alternative suspension to do the same?
Little H Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 The knocking could be drop links. Specially front or CV joints?????? Would need to here it for myself. How much do you want to spend and what kind of performace
Bluebotle Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 I asked the repairer why and they say the top mounts become elongated. It's the struts top mounts on mine that are knocking again! When I push down on the front of the car you can feel the top mount knocking. I'm not really after anything different perfromance wise to the standard ones. My main aim is to repalce the cheap cr*p the STi comes with and fit something that will last. Cheaper the better whilst maintaining good quality.[]
Little H Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 CAS will do a full set of Gas KYB struts installed for around £400. They are what ive had fitted and they feel a little firmer, and are not oil filled
Bluebotle Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 Thats a good price, how much will it be for fitting? Does that include Springs or do I need my old springs? I am new to this sort of thing. Is Gas better than Oil filled?
Bluebotle Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 Good deal that, whats the ride like using the standard STI springs, I take it it's the same height. I am definelty going to buy some. Is that £400 for the front only?
Little H Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I dont know on ride as im on Eibachs but its a little firmer so i would say the same. Speak to Steve they are around £400 fitted on all corners so four struts
Bluebotle Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 Thats a very good deal, wish I had done that before. I have spent £320 on buying 2nd hand struts and had them fitted. to think i could have bought brand new ones [] Never mind at least I know now hehe. Prosport never mentioned an alternative to the standard ones, I assumed the alternative makes would be more expensive, they quoted me £1500 ish for all four new standard. I ruled out alternative straight away. Can't wait now [Y] much appreciated for the advice. []
