FMIC's for Classics

Seeing as the STi 8/9 top-mount i/c can be a tad tricky to fit , does anyone know if the Hyperflow topmount is more or less a straight fit ?

ps ; when upgrading to one of these larger topmounts, do i need to fit a different/bigger Scoop , (hopefully not as i'm not keen on larger Scoops on Classics) imho

Yes it would be beneficial to fit the bigger scoop but it really depends on what power you are after which may determine what i/c you need/want.

Since when was fitting the STI8/9 TMIC difficult?

It's fiddly but I've done 3 of these now onto MY99- cars and it's 3 hours work MAX!. Great value for money and just needs a fettle on the Scoop undertray - plus it looks so OE!

I'd speak to Carl Davey about the undertray as he's designed and had fabricated an undertray that is exactly for this purpose.

Thanks Russell,

Just what i wanted, to try and keep it looking like OE.

Fabricating the undertray was one of the concerns i had as i dont like the look of larger scoops , as long as it doesn't have long term issues with heatsoak or anything else for that matter.

I'll try and get in contact with Carl Davey and see what's what...

Cheers for the info Russell

For value for money you will be hard pushed to better a Hybrid FMIC and it is streets ahead of any TMIC. I have a Hybrid on my 95WRX Wagon and an APS on my 00 STi Wagon. Ambient and charge temperatures are measured on both and the Hybrid seems to outperform the APS but that may be as a result of different power outputs.
