rabskyline Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 after fitting my new bov, the cel comes on and the boost is crap. i put it in direct replacement to the recirc one. any ideas.??
ANDYJDMSTI Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 As in your OTHER post about this DV your crap boost is due to the fact that you have a leak the size of the clyde tunnel on your pipe. []
Edinburgh-Chris Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Sounds like there is a leak somewhere! Have you removed any of the piping for the intercooler? I might be the dump valve mate, if you are running crap boost then you are leaking somewhere prior to the throttle body. So many things mate, everyone would be guessing/ firing answers back and forth at you. Check the ECU fault code and work from there. Get a boost gauge hooked up and see what you are running at but don't drive it like you stole it. You might find you are running at 0.5Bar. All the best, keep an open mind. Sometimes a loose hose or a split connection is all it is.
rabskyline Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 i added that i had put a NEW ELBOW on that leaky looking part. its all tight as a drum and no leaks there. should it be on the other pipe ? or the other side of the engine?
wilky Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Without actually knowing the history of this I would guess your ecu is in limp home mode, which will require a reset.
rabskyline Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 does it need a reset after fitting this bov ?
wilky Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 No it need reset because you have done something that has put it into limp home mode, ie boot it with a leaking hose sending your turbo balistic as it trys to make the pressure, the engine is working like feck to try and make the boost, its no happening because you have a hole in your pipework, the ecu says "Oh Oh! something wrong, we are going to have a bad day if this continues!" And goes into a rich, safe limp home map, and restricts your boost to 0.5 bar. To reset it, disconnect your battery, and go and have a cup of tea. About 30 min later, reconnect the battery and all should be well again, if not, then you will need to explore other options. Callum
rabskyline Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 yip it was only getting .5 bar. but have put the recirc back on now but never reset the ecu after i had the new hose fitted this morning ! (plum !) anyway i will refit tomorrow and check it out. from what i can read i should've reset it. so will see how we go in the morning. cheers guys ! i can be a bit of a knob at times ! !
