rabskyline Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 driving along, 80mph in top gear then floor it . it pulls like a train then miss-2 secs-miss-2secs-miss. but if you lift off slightly then all is well and still pulls ? overfueling ? any ideas ? drives very very well apart from this blip !
bigdavie Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 boost solenoid maybe needing a wee clean out ? i had this on my 99
bigdavie Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 on my 99 os f inner wing !! blue iirc marked denso with the 3 black rubber pipes going into it hth buddie fire some carb cleaner in there and see if that works
jcscoob Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Do you have a boost gauge ? If so what boost is it running ?
RS Grant Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Is it a misfire.. or is it a severe cut.... I hit fuel cut on my MY98 and it is a SEVERE feeling, first time you do it you think that its the end of your engine. [] Cheers, Grant
rabskyline Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 feels like fuel cut but it shouldnt at 4000 rpm. it dives then puls the dives but if you lift off the gas a little its fine !
Ali M Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I have this on my 97 wagon, although it has not done it for a while. Sounds like the boost solenoid as said above, the faq mentions removing the t-shaped connector for the rubber pipes connected to the bost solenoid and spraying in some brake cleaner before going for a blast to clear it out. I have not got round to trying it yet as it seems to have stopped. This is likely to happen after a service as when the oil level is too high it can clog up the pipes. On mine it feels very dramatic and all power is cut as the ecu is cutting both ignition and fuel as it thinks it is overboosting. iirc, your wagon should be running 0.9bar if standard. Clear indicators sound good, but I dont think those lights would look the best on the wagon, imho!!
rabskyline Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 i havent done this clean out yet but is exactly like you describe ! and it looks a little oily around the t piece ! i am giving the lexus lights a miss just now too. cheers rab.
rabskyline Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 cleaned out the solenoid hoses and components and ......voila ! no splutter although i tried it with the t piece hose disconnected from the actuator and the manifold and it took off like a bloody rocket so i am guessing that what this part is hooked up to limits the boost !
