WUZ Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 In order to inform you of the best oil for you we need to know some things.............. Mileage and age of engine in car Current mod level (ie, uprated or not!) What you use it for ( day-to-day, Track, B-road blasts, motorway) With this info we can inform you of the oil that best suits your needs. Russell

wrxmania Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Hi mate, I have Siloklene Pro Fully Synthetic, Subaru Genuine filter and sump plug washer in for sale just now - bought for a 2003 WRX Newage - recommended as best for this car by Oilman. Brian []
frank c Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 What's the difference with a Genuine Subaru Oil filter and an after market one ?? Frank
frank c Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Hi Gordy, I'm using Blueprint too.cos i get them cheap at work. I know genuine ones are taller, i just wondered if it made any difference. ps; was that your car in J&A c/wks the other day?
wrxmania Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 The genuine Subaru filters are very small - they are also not expensive. I think they areound around £5.40 each. Double Zero I touch goats re Oil and filter Brian []
frank c Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 The genuine one i replaced is bigger than the blueprint one i bought..
wrxmania Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I have sent you a PM - not an email - check the PM tab at the top of the page and you'll get it there [] Brian []
wrxmania Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 The genuine one i replaced is bigger than the blueprint one i bought.. The new Subaru ones are very small - old stock ones are quite large, so maybe it was around a year or so old?
WUZ Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Fully synthetic 10/40 would be best considering the mileage. Running a 15/50 is a little too thick when cold and might assist your oil pump to end its life (84K is getting old)! Millers do some good stuff but the Silkolene Pro S is GREAT...........at the right price. Blueprint filters ARE THE SAME AS SUBARU FILTERS. Blueprint just buy 500,000 off the manufacturer of the filter at the right money and put them in a Blueprint box. At present they are using the old style ones (longer than the new ones) so that is why they look different to the newer style ones that Subaru sell. Subaru changed their prices on the Oil filters and so it is just as cheap to buy one of them now ( difference is pennies) and it at least looks (not performs) better as it has a SUBARU logo on it,................just in case you need to go into a Subaru garage (GOD FORBID!)
