philip_wilson Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I’m a bit feed up today as my gear box is p00ped, every timeI change up in to 4th it keeps crunching. It started of this morningas a little crunch and now after a few more mile of driving I now have to missout 4th as the crunch it tooooo bad. I nipped in by T&C so it’s goingin tomorrow so looks like a few days with out my Scooby.

Gumball Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 couldnt be the synch mesh rather than the gearbox needing replaced or rebuilt could it?
RA Dunk Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 mines going the same way m8 , when accelerating hard in first and changing into second at high revs im getting the crunching as well hoping its nothing major but always fearing the worst
philip_wilson Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 couldnt be the synch mesh rather than the gearbox needing replaced or rebuilt could it? The sales lads at T&C think it’s the synch mesh but will get the tech's to have a look tomorrow. It’s a bit of a pain as I have only had this car just over a month but good thing is I got a years warranty when I bought it.
philip_wilson Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 Had the Scooby to T&C today and Gumball was spot on, its the synch. mesh so its going in on the 17th for a rebuilt to put things right.
Gumball Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 They actually stop doing it eventually. Mine used to do it from 4th into 5th then stopped and has never done it since. I think when the synch mesh starts grinding its due to the fact your trying to squeeze every last ounce of power out the car on short shifts. Get the foot pressed hard on the floor and change slightly easier and this wont happen. Or shouldnt. Or mod the car to the moon and you dont feel under pressure as much to skin the car behind or to your side[]
