road warrior Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Hi folks Looking for some help Had a day off work yesterday so went up to Edinburgh. On the way back home the car decided to dump its water on the top Soutra hill. Phoned the AA, after an hour or so wait, the Garage from Lauder arrived, the bloke couldnt see where it was coming from, so filled up with new water and drove the 5 or so miles the the garage in Lauder. By the time we got there it was peeing out again. Nowhere obvious where it was coming out from so he jacked up the car and looked underneath, theres a little rubber 90degree bend, just next to the oil filter, was coming out there. Let the car cool down again and found a bend off a scrap car that fit. Put it on and all seemed OK, let it warm up and no leaks . So I headed for home again. About 6 miles from Kelso the temp gauge started to rise again so pulled in and looked under the bonnet, steam leaking from the top radiator hose, just where it connects to the radiator. Let the car cool down again. Put the 5 litres I had with me in and got going again. 4 miles from home and it started heating again. Pulled in and called my dad to come with more water. Let it cool a bit, filled up, and got home. Its a MY94 WRX import. A stab in the dark but I'd guess the head gasket is fookt, or seriously on its way out. Theres no smoke coming from the exhaust. But I'd say the system is pressurising for it to kill 2 hoses. Called Dom Buckley this morning, but they cant get me in for at least 2 weeks. Any one know of any other Subaru specialists in the Borders/Lothians/Edinburgh area that I could go to? Im so sick, thats 2 cars in 2 days AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Any help appreciated John []
