Nick555 Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Has anyone spotted me yet? WR1 with big Scooby in the back! I've seen quite a few Scoobs on the island & waved whenever I could - not a huge percentage of return waves though. [] If anyone saw me & I didn't wave - it's because I was lost! []
graeme_stuart Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 Not seen you yet, but if we do you can count on a big wave!! Take it you're house hunting still How long are you over for?
Nick555 Posted May 21, 2006 Author Posted May 21, 2006 Hi We came across on Thursday (still feeling seasick even now) & we're going back on Tuesday. It's a major house-hunt - looking at about 8 or 9 houses a day. We've now finished & are looking at 4x 2nd viewings on Monday. Nick
graeme_stuart Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Good luck with the house hunting Nick.[] I moved here 15 years ago from Darlington in the north east and have never looked back.[] Hope you have a smooth journey back. Its always a bit unpredictable the Irish sea [+o(] even in the summer [li] [st] [um] [8-)][*-)] Look forward to meeting you when you move over. Cheers Graeme.
graeme_stuart Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Ha ha - spotted !! Well spotted your car at least..it was parked up in Peel just round the corner from our house. The wife saw it on her way home from work and told me. Went to put a note on your window but you were just driving off...but still spotted you !
Nick555 Posted May 23, 2006 Author Posted May 23, 2006 Ahh, I think I saw you - I was in the orange fleece. We were just checking out a house, we're interested in a couple houses in Peel. Do you have the shiny WR Blue parked around the corner from where I was parked?
Cret Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Saw you a couple of times over the weekend I think. Well it was a WR1 anyway so good chance of it! I think I was in the discovery but I'll flash/wave if I see you in that or the Legacy.[]

Nick555 Posted May 24, 2006 Author Posted May 24, 2006 Ahh, nice looking car you have there! [] We really like a house on Derby road, any hints & tips about the neighbourhood?
graeme_stuart Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 We have always loved Peel and the wife is born and bred here, very nearly bought a house on Derby Road ourselves about two or three doors up from the one we assume you're looking at (the only reason we didn't is that somebody placed an offer we couldn't match at the time[:@]). Not much goes on in the way of vandalism so no real need to worry about your car..does the house you're looking at have a driveway or parking space? Don't want to tempt fate but I've had my car parked on the road outside my house for the last two and a bit years and the only damage I've ever has is someone threw an egg at it which chipped the paintwork a little, just a kids prank. Just up the road you've got a swimming pool, lovely primary school and basic supermarket. It's just a really nice friendly place like the majority of the Island but Peel has the best ice cream and sunsets you'll find anywhere. And if you like motorsport then the Isle of Man is the place to be []!! As you probably know Richard our Regional Organiser is wanting to step down[] and is looking for a replacement - perfect way to meet the local scoobs if you have spare time (unless Dave K beats you to it [^o)] na sure he's too busy[8-)])
Nick555 Posted May 25, 2006 Author Posted May 25, 2006 Thanks for the info Graeme Yes, the house has a driveway & space for a car port/garage. There are a few people in the queue to buy it, just a matter of who sells their own property first I think. The current owners are really nice people, we chatted with them for ages. Our daughter is 11, is there a good senior school nearby? About the regional organiser, maybe it would be an idea for it to be run by several members? The Bristol area was started by myself & 2 others, it seemed to work well by spreading the load around a bit. Loads of Scoobs on the island don't wave though, what's all that about? Maybe it's my UK plates?
score1_uk Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I just got a UK impreza, and have noticed this too. I wave when I drive by, but have only had 1 wave back, and I live here. Must be the UK plates........

Spending a load of money on it, work is just starting to begin i think. [].

Yours isn't by any chance a blue sport (non turbo) version is it as a lad I know on my Legacy forum just sold his to someone over here. I know someone else that just recently got a blue UK turbo 2000 too..... Jim
score1_uk Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 naaa, I got a 99 UK spec in green with a few mods.....
Manx minx Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Welcome Guys , don't think I have seen either of you yet but I will keep an eye out for you both. I am most likely to see you if you are in the south of the Island or in and around Douglas. Won't see much of anyone the next 2 weeks as I will be too busy working.(keeps me out of trouble though.)[]
Cret Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Has it got a gold "SUBARU" sunstrip? Seen one like that a few times recently...
score1_uk Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 nope, it has a black strip... Im looking for a colour coded 1 though. Any ideas?
Cret Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Not sure to be honest - probably worth trying Ebay maybe?
Manx minx Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Has it got a gold "SUBARU" sunstrip? Seen one like that a few times recently... That scooby belongs to a guy from Castletown or Port Erin, He waves and says he has been to a few meets in the past, didn't catch his name when I was talking to him though. Nix[]
