PLEASE HELP !!! whats the ideal offset on a ....

99 classic lowered by approx 1 " on tein green springs

now i have no idea what my oz's were  but they felt kinda stable if you know what i mean ??

and today i fitted my new 5 spokes gold coloured (possibly kahns??!!) and they felt so weird !! i thought at first it may just be coz they were too tall ie 45 profiles but could i be right in thinking the offset affects handling and "feel " ??

if  i havent made sense withn this description please let me know and i will elaborate !

I don't know if this is any use to you but P1's are about an inch lower than standard my99-00 imprezas.  The offset for their wheels are et52 for 17" or et53 for 18"
