prodrive tony Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Hi guys my nobs gone stiff?? Can anyone help, its becoming very notchy to select gears sometimes?? Thanks.
Pele Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 It's a quirk of the classic lol - does it get better when it's warmed up a bit?
prodrive tony Posted March 28, 2006 Author Posted March 28, 2006 It started doing it after a bit of a thrash. You know after half throttle 'Evo' beating type of acceleration!! Spoke to Deano and he told me where to find my dip stick!! Its a bit low so it may help. Thanks.
Pele Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I see lol [] That also must mean U suffered the other symptom of the fuel needle going backwards as fast as the speedo needle went forwards lol[]
leon Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 try changing gear oil soon might be the oil starting to degrade, mine feels stiff until warmed up, but even when warmed up still feels a bit stiff so im gonna change my gearbox oil soon
imprezyou Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Get it checked asap by a subaru dealer, mine done this a few weeks before the gearbox went and it ended up costing me two and a half grand. Same sort of thing after a good thrashing with an evo, so get it checked out. Hope this helps.
Deano 666 Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 It started doing it after a bit of a thrash. You know after half throttle 'Evo' beating type of acceleration!! prodrive tony Posted March 29, 2006 Author Posted March 29, 2006 Yes go on Deano, i'm taking no chances. Ive changed the clutch and flywheel, so I don't fancy adding a new gearbox to the list!! Cheers.
paul_young2 Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Everything thats stiff works better when its warmed up []
prodrive tony Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 Ohhh its getting worse. Having to yank it out of gear on occassions!!
granby Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Ohhh its getting worse. Having to yank it out of gear on occassions!! Nothing worse that having to yank your knob []
prodrive tony Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Thanks Deano, top service, top bloke! All is silky smooth and gearbox seems fine after that oil change. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
prodrive tony Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Stiff nobs still playing up. About 1 in 10 gear changes requires a good yank to change. !! Seems to stick in gear??
Deano 666 Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 does it stick in same gear? sound like your syncro hub is holding in on the gear. could end up with gearbox rebuild. try and spay WD40 inside the gear lever gaiter on the plastic ball joint.
prodrive tony Posted April 5, 2006 Author Posted April 5, 2006 Its doing it in all gears, will try the WD4 route. Cheers.
