GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS - CANCELLED!!!!!

Recommended Posts

CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF INFORMATION - E-MAIL CAME FROM SOUTHWEST

SCOOBIES ADMIN ACCOUNT BUT THERE ARE NO POSTINGS OR INFORMATION ON

THEIR OWN WEBSITE WHICH HAS LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A WIND

UP....

Anybody fancy taking part?  If you do here are the details, and add your name to the list:

Due to very late notification I have only just found out about the

world record attempt, so i am now emailing ell members to ensure the

word is spread.

GREAT NEWS – IMPREZA NOW ELIGIBLE TO JOIN 4x4’s IN GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ SUBARU RECORD ATTEMPT!

Want to be a world record holder? Well now you can ... thanks to a

major eleventh hour decision by governing body Guinness World Records™.

Basically, what started out in November 2005 as an event solely for SUV

4x4’s such as the Forester and Legacy (cars were ineligible due to a

minimum ground clearance limit) has suddenly developed into someth ing

far more exciting.

Guinness World Records™ have indicated the original working title of

‘Longest Subaru 4x4 Procession' be amended to ‘Largest Parade of Subaru

Cars’ which of course now means that all Subaru models of whatever type

or powertrain are eligible!  Please be aware this notification

only occurred 16th March 2006, hence the extremely short notice.

This being the case, please spread the word by informing fellow owners

that an attempt to establish a brand new world record for Subarus will

take place on 9th April 2006 based at Towcester Racecourse,

Northamptonshire NN12 7HS. Entry cost has purposely been kept very low,

so PLEASE make the effort.

The parade itself, a rolling convoy, will take place over an 8 mile

stretch of dual-carriageway in which up to 20+ world records for a host

of vehicle marques will be attempted. Eligible cars include Ford

(Escort, Focus, Capri, Cortina, Sierra etc.) Honda (S800, CRX etc.)

Mazda (MX-5, MX-8, RX-7 etc.) Mitsubishi (FTO, GTO, Evo etc.) Nissan

(200X, Almera, Skyline, Micra, Primera, Silvia, Sunny/Pulsar etc.)

Toyota (MR2, Supra, Celica, etc.) Vauxhall (Astra, Cavalier, Corsa,

Viva, Tigra, Nova, Vectra, Calibra, VX220 etc.) and so forth. Needless

to say this should prove rather interesting to say the least!

Put it this way - the venue is already booked, the lo gistics including

Health & Safety and suchlike are all in place, all the Marshals and

back-up teams are raring to go, and hundreds of 4x4 owners and campers

are already booked in; so why not add some Jap performance cars into

the mix to ensure we establish or even break some new world records?

Remember, as part of a successful record attempt every owner who

participates can rightfully call themselves a “world record holder” ...

and all this for only £20 per vehicle including passengers. Should be

very interesting!

Entry fee @ £20 per vehicle which includes Day Admission for the driver

and up to 4 passengers, event decal and the all-important Certificate

of Partici pation. For those who don’t want to enter the procession but

simply spectate, Day Admission is £5 per adult, children under 16 yrs

are free. Camping is also possible Fri-Sun at £8 per night. Off-road

course £20 play-all-day. Advance-Booking Form is available by request

from 4x4trading@talk21.com  Book now for a guaranteed entry.

£20.........[:o]

Shame I didn't have this idea, get a couple of thousand cars together and charge each £20 for the priviledge....and since when did the Legacy become an SUV? The Legacy Outback maybe, but not the normal one!

Awww shame this wasen't in a couple of months, i would have definatly attended. I hope there will be outings for Kent Scoobies members during the summer months. Because once i get my car back on the road, I really want to meet some of the members i've been talking to on here for well over a year lol.
