Air bag steering wheel removal?

Hello,

This must be old school stuff, but what are the do's and dont's for the release of the OEM air bag from a 97 UK classic.

And I don't mean drive into a wall [] - trying to swap the steering wheel without a trip to local A&E.

Your knowledge would be appreciated.
