irish al Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Just wondering if anyone else is going to crail tomorrow for this. And before any twats start going on about it being chav, its not. These shows are good and you get too see how much effort other people put into thier cars. Mind you I cant justifiy spending a few grand on a fiesta but everyone to thier own. Am sure everyone here hasnt always owned a subaru and had other cars they modified. Am also sure everyone has bought a copy of max power at some time in thier life. Irish Al
IanJ Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Al, I was with you up until "Am also sure everyone has bought a copy of max power at some time in thier life". I am all for the each to their own attitude but i'm afraid i wouldn't be able to bring myself to buy it. Tried it once and ended up buying a copy of Razzle instead as i was too embarassed! Ian
=Robbo= Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 I was talking to a wee 16 year old guy at C&C today who has spent all sorts of time and money modding his 1.0L Corsa. Why a 1.0L corsa? Because it's all these young guys can get insured for, his insurance cost him £1,200 per year! If it wasn't for insurance costs he would be modding Scoobs and Evos right now, he totally loved my car and understood the Scoob ethos for what it was. The whole "Chav" thing is really more about ?bad taste modding? than bad choice of car to mod, IMO. Today?s Corsa/Nova modifier is tomorrows WRX/Evo modifier. Let?s support the younger generation as they are just like the rest of us ? persecuted by insurance company?s software algorithms. Robbo.
karps Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 well me being the chav that i am will be there can you still be a chav at my age ???
irish al Posted October 30, 2005 Author Posted October 30, 2005 Ian, as i have aged and got wiser i no longer buy max power and now look forward to scooby mag every month. Howerer u still bought it once Robbo, I agree with u, there is just some things people shouldnt do to thier cars, and some cars should just be driven into a ditch somewhere. But the cars that look the doggys bollocks are nice and just as much loved as our subarus. Agree about the insurance, my first car was a mondeo and it cost me more to insure than the car was worth Karps, we are meeting up at mcdonalds in the morning this side of the bridge if u fancy a wee convoy up. Uve got my number. Chavtastic

IanJ Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Al, My lawyers will be in touch I have definately never bought Max Power. I have read it while sitting waiting on tyres being fitted.....but def never bought it. I'd rather go and pick up Gumballs monthly copy of Gay Mens Health before i bought max power.
alistair_learmonth Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I dont read car mags for the same reason a dont watch DIY on telly. 1. They always say things are simple. 2. They always got loads a money to spend, plus they got all the kit that would cost a DIY a grand to get. 3. They always got some other sod to do the work off camera or do the work for the photo shoot. Watch that Car is born, the fat guy with the beard is the brains in that outfit, no not the lazy producer guy, he dont know his giblet from his cam belt. The other one who makes breif appearences when they get to difficult bits. 4. They always miss a bit out and its the important bit, cause you get to that bit and dont have a clue. well a do every bleeding time. 5. Trust me am a joiner, Handy Andy on them DIY programmes, cant join hands let alone cut a bit of MDF. Watched him fit a door and lock, he aint handy hes a liberty.
