2559B Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 What's the difference between BHP at the wheels & BHP at the flywheel ??? is there a conversion chart, or is every car slightly different ??? ( for example ) --- if I had 300bhp @ flywheel what would the figure be for the wheels ??? Ally.
Iaing Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Yes there is a difference (its less) as you get transmission losses ect. Not sure what you would be getting at the wheels if you had 300bhp at the flywheel
Paulmc Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 When you get your car rolling roaded it is best to get the wheel figure as the flywheel is always a guess. They work it out on the run down and calculate it through drag from tyres, brakes, gearbox etc 25% loss through tranny is the norm (ish) but all cars are different. I would say around 210 to 220bhp ATW
Gumball Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 it varies due to things like tryes etc also, drag etc. Imm sure your geometry settings could effect the figure slightly too. and example could be dastek gave me 365 at the wheels, roughly 10% less than the flywheel then.
WUZ Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 TRANSMISSION LOSSES ARE DIFFERENT FOR EVERY TYPE OF CAR BUT THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM ON SCOOBIES IS ABOUT 28%. Russell ps - didn't mean to shout.the bloody computers on these American run drillships are always set for using capital letters!
