im off to hong kong on holiday! any ideas where to go?

im off on holiday to hongkong then 2 weeks in vietnam, where should i go? what should i see(and for my girlfriend where shall she shop!!!)

I was over there in June. Best things to do are:

Victoria Peak/Tram

Walk up to the top of Nathan Road (the main shopping bit)

Star Ferry between Kowloon and HK Island

Bank of China building

A good tour around HK

There's so much to do, and it's all very cheap. Get a good guide book and do take an organised tour, as HK is so hilly it's tiring walking around (especially if the humidity is still anything like it was when I was there!)

I spent 6 months in HK in1998 working...

You have got to go to the WAN CHAI (sp) district for all the clubs and pubs..these will be full of phillipino women and english ex pats..

Go to a pub called the CHINA JUMP and do the Dentist Chair (the one all the english football players did and it was all over the papers)

Horse racing at HAPPY VALLEY or SHA TIN is a great night out even if you dont want to gamble...awesome atmosphere.

Do as many of the night markets that you can, but watch out for pick pockets!!

Go and see the BUDDAH at LANTAU (if you like the sight seeing bit)

And you absolutely must do a trip to the top of the PEAK on the tram..

If you like your electronic goodies, SHAM SHUI PO is a must, hundreds of shops all selling gadgets and goodies..

Try out the local buses...PLBs i think they are called..they drive like absolute loonies and if they are full , ie people standing, they come up to a stop ,brake hard sending you all flying forwards and then accellerate sending you all backwards. just to make room at the front to get more people on board!

Oh and one GOOD bit of advice, dont eat from the street vendors...You WILL be ill.

I f you happen to use the tube(which im sure you will as its fantastic) check out the newer stations ...I fitted out Olympia, Hong Kong Central, Kowloon, Lai King, Tsing Ye, Tung Chung and Lantau Airport express with all of the CCTV cameras.

You can also use your mobile phone anywhere on the tube , even underground!!!

Im absolutely sure you will have a fantastic time , its agreat place to visit/Live
