graham_nairn Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Just fitted a new set of eibach springs to my 1997 classic. Was a pain to fit the rears, got it done in the end. Just wondered if anybody else has done this, now have a knocking noise coming fron the offside front. I know the springs are slightly shorter but never had this on any other car. I'm still running on the original dampers.
weeb Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 i got a set fitted -35mm drop, very good, quite firm, no knocking noises for me and i have std dampers!! spring mite not be seated rite or may just need run in! did u fit them yourself?
JamesF Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I've got these on my MY04 WRX, same problem too but it's my n/s/f that knocks. I also have a bonus feature of the springs rattling in the bottom seats too on the fronts. I'm sure you will have this over time. Get onto Eibach or the place you got them from and get a different type as there is nothing you can do to sort it, I've tried. I believe that Tein are pretty good.
graham_nairn Posted September 20, 2005 Author Posted September 20, 2005 Only had them on the the car since thursday. Took it round Knockhill on Friday afternoon. Not had a chance to check anything yet. Fitted them at a friends garage he has a ramp so made it a bit easier. Had to strip all the back seats out and all the trims to get into the rear struts. Put new braided brake hoses on at the same time. Just got the anti roll bars to go on.
jcscoob Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Iv done this to but no Knocking and yes the back is a pain ! My mate has just put koni springs on and hes got a bit of a Knock.
fai17 Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 The knocking noise could be the drop links m8
graham_nairn Posted September 21, 2005 Author Posted September 21, 2005 I,ve uprated the drop links already. I,ll hopefully get a chance over the weekend to look over the car not had a chance yet. I wasn't there when my mate put the car back together. Thought he might have forgotton about the plastic spigot for the alloy to fit on the hub. Should get it sorted. Dont get any vibrations or movement through the steering so hopefully its not to bad.
