Treesy Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Just like to say hello and welcome to the club.
Dalthegooner Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 Hello mate and welcome to the forum Sorry, no ideas about the cold start, first time I've heard of it. I'm sure there will be someone who can help you out though.
scoots Posted September 15, 2005 Author Posted September 15, 2005 i've read that it could be the coil packs, are they on top of the spark plugs? not got a manual to look at. are you a gunner by any chance dal?
leon Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 hi there! it could be your maf sensor but your idle should be lumpy all the time if it is, or could be o2 sensor! there the main culprits for idleing problems
Dalthegooner Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 The coil packs are on top of the spark plugs but they're fairly expensive so I'd try and get some more info before you fork out for them, normally when the coil packs start to break down its not only when you first start the motor up. Take them off and have a good look at them. 9 times out of 10 you can see if theres somethuing wrong with them. If you do replace them once you've fitted the new ones disconnect the battery for about an hour so that the ECU resets itself. It changes engine settings to produce less power and protect the engine if it detects a problem and it takes forever for the ECU to change back without the reset. Yes am a Gunner Scoots. How did you guess
Pele Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Hi there and welcome to KentScoobies Would you like to go onto our mailing list? As for the idling problem & lumpy start, I think most classics suffer from this until they are warmed up....
scoots Posted September 16, 2005 Author Posted September 16, 2005 i emailed you a couple of days ago and i think you've put me on it. thanks for all the suggestions, i'll just give everything a good clean. had i quote of £200 for the coil packs!!
