ongoing battery problem

Hello folks, whilst washing and polishing my car today, i armed the alarm, however, only one side repeater flashed. i then got in the car and tried the indicators, only one side repeater is working. Had a closer look at the repeater in question and found the plastic to be bulged as if the bulb has burned out. Is there a short? Could this cause my persistant battery flattening problem. Any ideas most welcome.

I will also be getting the garage to check the back-up battery for the alarm when i take it in. Cheers!
