scott_coull Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Hope you guys can help me out here.... Clutch is slipping at high revs. So the dilema is what clutch kit to get, where to get it from, how much it will costs and best place for fitting... AWD, Eden Subaru? Im in Fife so the nearer the better. Been doing a bit of searching and came up with AP, Excedy, Helix, Techniclutch. lateral performance. Car is running 280bhp 275ftlb torque. Possibly go front mount, TDO5FE remap in the distant future. Looking to spend about £300-£400 Will I need the flywheel skimmed, if so who does this and how much? Whats the average price for fitting the clutch...roughly 4hrs labour? Where do I start? Cheers guys Coulster
jasonb Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 if you phone awd motorsport in perth they would sort you out, i think it is £50 to swap your flywheel for a skimmed one and about £200 labour for the job to be done, jcscoob got a really good clutch of ebay for about £250 and his car is a good bit of 300bhp so you should maybe pm him for the details
coulty Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Call David @ API for the exedy racing organic clutch. It is cheap and can handle good torque. I am running one with c330bhp/320 lbsft and no probs after about 3000 miles. Stuart
IanJ Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 What have you done to my car Scott It had a new clutch when they put the box in! I have a lateral g clutch in the wagon and it is superb to drive(Allegedly handles 300+bhp). I also went for the lightened OEM flywheel route (Only lost a couple of kg's), the change in pickup is excellent. I haven't noticed the gran turismo drop off of power on hills (maybe i'm not trying hard enough!)
scott_coull Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 Thanks for the reply guys. Will have to make a couple of phone calls I think. Service is due next month so think I'll get it done this month, better sooner than later I think. Any more input from anyone else? Cheers Scott
sma01 Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 have you considered taking your car to Hypertech mate?work is first class. Duncan would be able to source you whichever clutch you might need, he fitted an exedy in my mates p1 and it is superb. scott
scott_coull Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 Thanks for your help guys, car's booked into AWD motorsport for 24th. Coulster
