alanm73 Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Right im looking for some advice on buying & running a WRX. I have a Honda Civic sport at the moment which i hate so i am looking for more performance/ better handleing 4 doors etc So can someone asnwer the following for me, Whats the MPG & servicing costs like? Got a insurance quote of £640 off direct line but they want a tracker fitted, Do all insurance companies ask for this? also what is the better buy? A 2004 04 WRX from a Subaru dealer for £16K to 17K? or A 2005 05 Import WRX for £16k plus a Cat 1 Alarm & Tracker? I dont know what way to jump but the car would be used every day covering around 14000 miles a year and kept for 3 or 4 years. Any opinions or thoughts are most welcome Thanks Alan
TypeRA28 Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I see you are looking for a newer car. If you were interested, I am selling a WRX STI Type RA. Its a classic shape, and registered ona 1997 plate. Sorry to bother you if you are not interested. What ever car you go for, I am sure you will have great fun with it.
JamesF Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I've just moved from a Civic Type R to an 04 WRX. Running costs are something that you shouldn't have to ask about. You Civic is like running a 1litre mini compared to a scooby. Petrol consumption is shocking to say the least, servicing is about £300 a time and if your any taller than 5'10", the back sat passengers will have cramp in there legs as the front leg room isn't that great. Insurance for me (28, Edinburgh post code, kept in driveway, cat1 is £680 (no tracker required). Try Admiral or Elephant. Euro imports are really down to personal choice. You get a great deal at the time but depreciation is pretty bad and main dealers will offer you next to nothing on a trade in. Having said that, you forget all of this as soon as you put your foot on the loud pedal Well worth the money in my opinion !!
wrxmania Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Prices for servicing at A F Nobles Subaru, Penicuik as an example: 10,000 - £109 20,000 (incl. Brake Fluid) - £128 30,000 - Let you know shortly Averages 22 - 28 MPG. Tyre wear good if you don't kill it everywhere. My rear standard tyres have done 25,000 miles with a lot of hard driving and a track night. Front got 20,000 miles - a miracle for the car really! VERY reliable - no issues. Well worth the money.
