They are not speed cameras.They are cameras linked to dvla data base and insurance details.Someone i know got stopped with a traffic car fitted with one,They said the car wasn't registered in her name.She's had the car for 8 years.They had to check the p.n.c manually.Modern technology garbage.

are they not numberplate recognition stuff?, thats what they have round here..now they dont even have to read out your reg in to the radio they are that lazy

Yes thats wat they do.Check your plate and if you've no tax etc your nicked.When mot computerisation comes on line they'll check that too.

Only a good thing in my eyes to be honest.

Gives the police a chance to get some of the undesireables off the roads and leave us tax paying, law abiding citizens alone.

May not be 100% fool proof but better than having the police annoy people whos cars are perfectly legal, ie taxed and insured.

I'm not a police lover but this system gets the thumbs up from me.

Sounds good to me....none of us want to be hit by an uninsured driver (usually no MOT or tax too as they have no regard for the anything or anyone else let alone the law)

Yip this is an excellent idea - We were stopped between Xmas & New Year at one of those roadside checks, the guy radio'd in the reg number and within 60 seconds I heard our Insurance details and owner details. I was gobsmacked as we didn't know they held such data. Sort out the MOT's and that means the illegal's out there are running a bigger risk if stopped.

What ever next, FFS. Police look more and more like Chief Wigam when they do stuff like this.

Not saying its a bad idea, as its gonna help catch tax dodgers etc, but whats next then, knick everybody who looks like a chav ?........oh, not such a bad idea...........
