david_farmer Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 I just got my WRX last week - a 2003 model supplied by Drive Subaru, Falkirk who had just serviced the vehicle. A couple of times it had a strange problem that when leaving the car an shutting a door the alarm would sound (alarm not set). I found then found that things like the clock and the trip counter had also reset themselves. All set to go back to the dealer, but thought I'd have a look under the bonnet first and found the battery lead was hanging off and just touching the battery. Tightened it up and all seems fine. I then checked the tyre pressures and found the rear tyres were inflated to 18psi - have now inflated them to standard. Otherwise the car is great, but I'm not too sure I want to return the car for servicing. Does anyone know of any independant Scobbie specialists in the Central area?. Also what is the impact on Subaru warranty - I know it is against EU laws to insist that servicing must be carried out by dealers to keep warranty, but has anyone any direct experience of this. David
wrxmania Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 A F Nobles Subaru in Penicuik just beside Edinburgh. Very good and I use them instead of Drive where I bought my car, now renamed Morrisons. Also Eden Subaru in Fife. Brian
david_farmer Posted November 29, 2004 Author Posted November 29, 2004 Thanks, my was origianlly supplied by AF Noble, but the fife one is probably handier - Cupar.
rallye6 Posted November 29, 2004 Posted November 29, 2004 I can definitely recommend eden subaru at cupar fife, for all service and warranty work brian
billyboy Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 while theres no excuse for bad workmanship, sadly this is the way the motor trade is goin guys.i started in 1978 on mk2 escorts, cortinas etc.it was different back then,we got good training, had a laugh and had to actually "work" on cars.points plugs valve clearances etc.in todays garage enviroment the average apprentice could'nt tell you how to do these things.they are taught nothing about gearboxes because they are classed as specialist subjects (?). as for time served mechanics you have to put some blame on the car makers, servicing times and repair times are cut to the bare bone and with dealers only interested in their profits and not their staff thats why service at a dealership has gone into the @@ithouse.the problems you describe are common in every garage across the country.as a workshop foreman i despair at the thought of the future of the motor trade in this country.its all profit ching ching!!.i work for the largest motor group in scotland and we dont even get wished a merry christmas by our boss.do we mr clark?
the deviant Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 Merry Christmas?, you'll be lucky from arnie. Usual 2% cost of living rise this year billyboy?
malky Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 All right folks, we are looking for one last big push for prezzies for the Santa Cruz for the children of Yorkhill. Please remember that this is being run by Scottish members & next year we could be delivering toys to sick/under privileged kids in your area. We need all the Scottish members to dig deep to make it a good Christmas for the kids. PS I am high jacking all the threads as I feel quite disappointed that more members are not getting involved.
billyboy Posted December 4, 2004 Posted December 4, 2004 2% that much.do you work for scrooge as well?
