johnnyr6 Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Right guys, i'm going to service my 95 sti2 meself, it's the first time i will have done it. Is there anything i should watch out for? Is there an easy way to do the plugs or is it everything in the way off. I know the procedure for changing the oil on it and have done many a service on other cars but was just wondering if there was any tips. Cheers Johnny
WRC No 1 Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 There is no easy way to do the plugs as i have just done mine today. When changing oil filter, make sure you disconnect the pick up sensor behind the crank shaft pully, then fill the oil filter first, then put on the oil filter. When the oil filter is on and there is oil in the engine turn the engine till the oil light goes out. (Engine will not start as long as you disconnect the pick up sensor.) When oil light goes out then reconnect the sensor, then check oil levels. P.S Thats what i got told to do with my WRX and it is running sweet. I got told they do this at the Subaru garage. (Wullie) Hope this helps you out!!!
keap_scooby2 Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 supposidy the plugs need a special socket, but someone will know if thats true or not.
WRC No 1 Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 when i done my plugs i just used a 3" extension with the plug socket
johnnyr6 Posted October 19, 2004 Author Posted October 19, 2004 cheers guys, Wr1 do you not also keep the plugs out while you turn the car over to get the oil pressure up as this is supposed to reduce back pressure putting the engine under less stress until the pressure is up? That's what i was told to do.
WRC No 1 Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 yes if ur doing it all at the same time. i did not but i could not get the plugs out at the same time couse of the space but done the plugs later. hope u have fun doing it all i did. NOT. (wullie)
