ian_craig2 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 1/ do i need to have this done by a dealership to keep my warranty? 2/ if who do you recomend other than s&s.. Thanks Ian
DEVLIN Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Grasshopper , I work for a main dealer ( not subaru ) and for any dealer operating in europe , they must operate under the "block exemption" ruling. This means that a dealer cannot dictate where a car is serviced. If you have to make a warranty claim and the dealer can put the failure down to the car not being serviced correctly , then obviously they will void the warranty on that part. Ensure the garage uses genuine parts and you shouldnt have a problem. If you consult your dealer , ask for the service manager and mention "block exemption" which was imposed by the european directive and he will probably cack his pants and let you get the scoob serviced elsewhere and still honour your warranty. Hope this is the info youre looking for.
allywrx Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Greersport are the best in our area, good work and not rediculous with there prices like some. They have always done good work for me unlike others. All IMHO of course.
Subarstar Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 Used to use S&S. Pricing is ridiculous. Try Greersport, they're excellent, prices are good and THEY know what they're talking about.
P1_Paul Posted October 10, 2004 Posted October 10, 2004 I have an extended 2 year Subaru Warrenty, does the same apply to me?
ian_craig2 Posted October 10, 2004 Author Posted October 10, 2004 devlin .. you the man thanks very much mate. allwrx.. thanks mate used greer sport all the time for me import they def know there stuff. subarstar.. s&s not only dear but always got to go back atleast 3/4 times to get the most simple thing sorted. 10000 mile service went in fine came out with a misfire and rubbing brakes.. i mean what the f***??? thanks for all your help. Ian
Bladerider Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Grasshopper, Devlin is quite correct about the block exemption ruling. http://www.dti.gov.uk/ccp/topics1/facts/blockcars.htm Take your car to Bill Greer, ask him to use genuine parts (he does anyway) when servicing, and your warranty should be intact. Greersport is far better, cheeper, and friendlier than S&S anyway.
ian_craig2 Posted October 11, 2004 Author Posted October 11, 2004 bladerider your a good man thanks a lot mate. have a lot of faith in Bill, always happy with there work on me import when i had it. cheers Ian
DEVLIN Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Paul , as far as we know it applies to manufacturers warr or any extended warr you may have. Just make sure you keep all receipts as usually a stamped svc book is not enough.
