jimmer Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I'd be happy with your power to! Do you really need 600 bhp?
STImulant29 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 well i kinda wana go for 400/450bhp with stock sti internals strip it out and bigger brakes and then run some track days/meets. but 600 is just silly money and not worth it on the roads. think he was tracking it though
the bungster Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 How long will stock internals last at that kind of power ? Sti or not you gotta be looking at some upgrades surely ...
STImulant29 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 450all day long its done alot on sti internals, iv heard of people doing just over 500 but i wouldnt wana push it that far, after 450 ish u probably wana start looking at 2.1 stroker with a closed deck block just for piece of mind, iv debated it but do i really need to go past 450? id be looking at getting a bigger turbo/injectors/fmic/cone filter and remap il be hitting around 450. Couple 400/450bhp with weight loss and your on a winner. better mpg/tyre and brake wear/handling. And its cheap as chips and you can ebay some of what you ditch. I ditched my spare wheel and tools on sunday and noticed a massive difference plus the fact i was running v power with an octane booster. getting race seats alone probably save u 10-15+kg each seat then ditch spare wheel, air con, rear seats your looking at maybe 60+kg loss? running with things like half full washer bottle and i/c spray. Relocating the battery for a smaller lighter one and boosh youve just ditched 70+kg probably more out of your car in a day. and spent maybe 400/500 quid on the seats. winner think i got a bit carried away then i felt something twitch
jimmer Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Do you think its bragging rights,or is it i can so why not! Rob you ave a point, good read!
jd Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 It isnt bragging rights. I was simply stating that 450bhp on standard newage if setup well is not a problem.
jd Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 ah ok I would have 600bhp if I could, but then I would want 700
STImulant29 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 if u can why not! go for it, really its not that expensive seeing as you have the internals to do it, its just bolting bits on and getting it mapped. you can do everything yourself apart from the remap so again its not gona cost the earth and you get to chose the parts you want to use. you could even get bits off ebay but i wouldnt recommend it. JD what turbo are you running in the newage? jimmer if you fancy a read, this guy went to the extreme and ditched about 300+ib i think off his sti which is probably about 130+kg. Its a top read the guy got obsessed
jd Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Currently have a GT30 hybrid from Enginetuner, it was sat there all shiny and I could not resist.
STImulant29 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 ok his target was 500ib thats 227 kg lighter than stock and i believe 10ib = 1hp more.
STImulant29 Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 lol jd gotta love shiney things...my precious.....
jd Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 oo yes, still going strong. very well looked after by Enginetuner over the years.
jimmer Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 ok his target was 500ib thats 227 kg lighter than stock and i believe 10ib = 1hp more. He must have chucked everything out?
jd Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 be amazed at how heavy the dront seats alone are. especially the drivers with the airbags etc. sold mine
neil wrx Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 crikey rob u've definitely given it alot of thought. a man with a plan
jimmer Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 How much did you think that you have lightened yours by jd? I think rob is going to go on a mission!
