option 1

either take a trip down the A68 to galashiels + kelso way , or maybe go the A720 and go the back way into gala,

option 2

Better to head down the A7 then cut across country back to the A68 ...if you have satnav just go off the beaten track and it will take you some great roads

I used to deliver to racehorse yards down the borders and there are some excellent roads when you find them :)

Be careful out there. I did that a couple of weeks ago and had a few close ones with some serious friggin' potholes :(

A7 to Gala and then A72 to Peebles, continuing along the A72 to Blythe Bridge - one of my all-time favourites! Been down a couple of times since New Year and there were no major potholes - in fact I was pleasantly surprised at how well the Borders' roads have held up...

Get yourself down there early on a Sunday morn though - as you're probably aware, the A7 is a bit short of overtaking spots. Mind out for greasy/salty bits too ;)

already done my wee run,

topped up on vpower at gorebridge then down the back roads into gala, got a nice wee mc'ds for lunch , popped into halfords,

then over to hawick, convient P1$$ break at morrisons there , then back home through to gala and down through lauder on the A68 over sutra hill,

no bad wee drive roads all seemed fine and not to busy , tho did get stuck behind a scooter for a cpl miles :icon_hang: , but the long straights out of lauder and soutra hill part made up for that :headbang:

not bad used of just under half a tank of petrol , and had weather on my side and no greasy or slipy roads

Sounds like a braw run!

Glad to hear the roads were dry - we had drizzle here this afternoon, which was just enough to re-activate some of the residual salt.

And you've gotta love the rural supermarkets - good to have some place half-clean to stop for Bruce Lee when the need arises :D
