Scottish Lawyer - Any Recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

has anyone had good representation, and wishes to pass on the contact details of a decent lawyer?

(its speeding related).

I can just take the first page Google gives me but getting to the top of google does not necessarily = good.

Cheers,

Chris.

Pepipoo is a good place to start if you haven't already: http://forums.pepipoo.com

Cheers Andy,

I saw pepipoo a while back when I received my Notice of Intended Prosecution and I assumed it wasn't scottish enough, but I've just seen that they do list Michael Lyon (who comes top of google)

I've got my citiation now so need a scottish lawyer. I'll email Michael Lyon and see what they say.

Anyone got any experience with them?

Cheers.

Neil McPherson, In Kilmarnock, He's s**** hot and the only lawyer I've had that would actually get out his bed and come downthe cop station for you regardless of day or time, got me my lic back early and has sorted out a few other cases for me.

Seriously, post your case details anonymously on pepipoo. There are a lot of guys there conversant on Scottish law who can possibly help. There's a huge thread for starters on a guy challenging the legality of the SPECS cameras on the A80. Returning the NIP unsigned is still a get out for speeding cases in Scotland, but sounds like your case is either more serious than that or you've gone beyond the time limit for going unsigned.

At very least, if you post clear (anonymous of course) details on pepipoo they'll tell you whether you're wasting your time/money or if you have a potential case to fight.

Yep £2500 + vat is what you are looking at to get you off, first mistake he will tell you was accepting the citation, i'll pm you a slightly cheaper lawyer but it's all about the prosecution crossing the T's & dotting the I's, they don't like taking motoring offences to trial because the police or court muck up the paperwork ar some point & you get off on a technicality, but it will cost.

My son got representation by the guy I will pm you, speeding at 100 mph within first ttwo years of driving, he got two month ban & £400 fine no points & no resit result, lawyers fee £1000

Just did a search and this story about him came up first! used google cache to read it though, so he's obviously had it removed recently.

Ok I will have a go. All this stuff about returning an unsigned NIP seems like a conniving pursuit to me. I realise that its a valid loophole, but also, I requested the evidence for the alleged offence, and received some nice clear pictures of my face. so thats sort of that. My situation is that I need 5 points, because the prize for 6 would be a totting up ban :(

At the very least, I'll have a very thorough read through, thanks for pressing me.

Thanks Bobby, I've heard back from a couple of people already, Michael Lyon quoted 1000+v. I almost hung up on him, but now I'm seeing that that is (if anything) under the going rate! I'll get in touch with him and see what they say, thanks mate.

Some good examples there ! getting away with that in the first 2 years is awesome.

Thats what cost me my license in that period.

Maybe worth the investment !! Youd spend it on mods anyway, so its worth paying for

Good luck
