Hi everyone

I am new to this forum and i might be purchasing my first Impreza within the next few weeks.

Unfortunetly I dont have a huge knowledge about Subaru's yet and was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers and hints as to what questions i could ask when buying the car.

Thank you

Caz

im sure someone with more knowledge will help soon but when i get a car i always just check the obvious ones like the sills, make sure theres not yellowish gunge under the oil cap and stuff and always test drive it so you can here any knocks and bangs plus that allows you to check the clutch and gears also im not sure if theres any common faults with non turbos or turbos but as i say im sure someone will have better knowledge good luck buddy ;)

You may even if you are really unsure, perhaps ask if someone nearby could come and look at it with you, that knows a bit more about the cars... Certainly that's what I did when I bought my first impreza in Elgin years ago, a 1.8 GL!

One thing to check is rust, on the roof mainly, right behind the windscreen... I've had rusty roofs on both of my cars, and in fact, this one has actually started bubbling again... (Was resprayed a few years ago)

But as above, just check around for oil leaks, in the engine, and also look under the back too to the rear diff for leaks (when you look under the car from the back, its the box with the drive shafts in the middle)

Hope this helps in some way!

As for membership. Should be some cool announcements comming really soon, and it might be worth waiting till then to join! ;)

Hey Caz (and everyone else) I'm actually in the exact same boat - but picking mine up on Saturday, so I guess a little farther along in the process than you. But any tips are still welcome, thanks!
