GazTurboUK Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Alright folks, couple of quick questions, Will all EJ20 blocks bolt on fine to v3/4 heads? Also whats preventing me using a different engine (ie v1/2/5/6) with my current ecu which is v3/v4? would i need to replace full loom or would i be able to swap the manifolds over? Just trying to figure out options available before i take my engine out following head gasket failure. Also i had slight piston slap from engine due to being a 1998, how is this normally rectified?
johnnyr6 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) All will be fine + you'll be ok with your ecu. The heads can cause probs when interchanging, as in phase1 heads wont work with a phase 2 inlet manifold without adaptors and work but as your using your own heads you'll be fine. If you go for a long block stick to a phase 1 or 1.5 ie v1 to v4 that way you can use your own inlet and the wiring etc will be the same. Don't know why piston slap would be due to a 1998 but i would have thought there was too much movement from the piston so only way to sort it would be a rebuild.
