tazman Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Hello fellow berks owners.......haven't been on for a while.........oops Can any of you give advice on how I adjust the hand brake on my wagon...........need to fit rear discs and pads ASAP Cheers
andyjudge Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Give this a whirl, Kylie posted it a while ago. Andy If it attaches of course Subaru_Brakes.pdf
andyjudge Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 When I changed my rear disks & Pads I didn't really have to touch the handbrake, just jacked up the car removed the wheel, Calliper & pad carrier. Released the handbrake & then popped off the disk by winding in a couple M6 (I think) bolts into the holes in the disk bell & off it popped. Some people did mention that I may have to back off the adjuster (On the back of the hub) in order to remove the disk, but mine came off without issue. Swapped all my pads out today, would have taken me about 1/2 hour if it wasn't for a seized slider bolt on a rear brake.
tazman Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Cheers Andy, hopefully all I'll have to do is back the adjuster off a bit to get the disc off. Didn't fancy paying for someone else to do what is an easy DIY job lol
andyjudge Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Easy is an understatement if you don't have anything seized. I took the plunge when garages were quoting me at least 2 Hrs for the disk & pad swap Andy
tazman Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 Ah ah retaining pins in the front calipers are rusted in...................taking it to uncle Len at S4U at the end of the month.
