Another Godspeed/brake Question

I know theres a Godspeed thread on page 2,and i have done a few searches about caliper refurbs ,but i just thought i'd start a fresh one,so......

Anyone tried Godspeed for their caliper refurb service? I think its around the 200 quid mark on an exchange basis, which to me seems pretty decent considering people seem to be paying around 200 upwards for a scabby old 2nd hand pair of 4 pots on fleabay and then have to strip them down and refurb them themselves. Are there any other refurb services out there that you have used? Does anyone offer an "off the shelf" exchange service? I'm sure i read somewhere that AWD did this a while ago, but i cant see anything about it on their website. And i'm pretty sure Dunc at Hypertech doesnt do this either.

As for doing it myself?......theres not much room on the driveway(i can just about get down the side of the car nearest to the house to give it a wash never mind get a jack in and work on a wheel)other than park it half on the neeburs front lawn!

And by the look and feel of it theres pistons sticking on both front calipers,so theres another 20 quid approx. per new piston plus seal kits etc.

So the easiest looking option is to whip the calipers of out in the street ,push the car into the drive and post them of for a refurb.

Any other ideas welcome of course,i should mention i want to just keep the standard set up(00 m/y uk turbo) but maybe upgrade the discs but still keep the OEM 16" wheels.

P.S If anyone has a 'decent' set of 4 pots that just need a clean up for sale, please drop me a wee p.m.

thanks,

Mark.

I have a set that will be getting a re-furb shortly. ie. all the paint removed and re-painted in the colour of your choice with new seals and stainless steel pistons. £200 and you keep your old ones or £150 exchange.

Marky,

I had my 4 pots refurbed via Godspeed.

Car was in Hypertech for new brake pads and Duncan noticed the calipers had seized.

He exchanged mine for a reconditioned set that Godspeed had.

Price and timescale were fine, the only unknown was what colour of caliper you get back.

My black ones were sent away and I got silver in return. I quite liked the look of them with my gold alloys ;)

Actually if done well that's not a bad price. Just had badbaz refurb the pistons on my 4pots and although I can't compare with how much it cost me (got my pistons and seal kit from a nice follow on here at a slightly reduced cost) it won't be a million miles away from that to the point where it's likely a £50 labour charge (£150 to £200). Don't forget to factor in shipping costs too if swapping.

I have to check shipping costs but id imagine i could include it in the price.

Can also paint the lettering a different colour if required.

Colours available

Red, grey, blue, black, yellow, silver and white

Marky,

just spotted this.

the caliper work was done at the same time as brake pads and other stuff and I can't remember the price for the calipers alone.

best if you call Duncan and ask him,

Imy
