ed-209 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) Hello again am after some advice. I have fitted a 6k ecu out of an sti 2 import onto my uk v2 classic. The car will no longer get past 112mph is there something i can fit to remove this?? Thank you in advance Because the ecu is from an import it has a 180kph (112Mph) limiter built in you need a) a mechanical speedo conversion in which case your speedo will read wrong as you have a uk gearbox. b.) a electrical convertor don't know if that will effect the speedo. Mechanical convertor http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-MECHANICAL-SP...id=p3286.c0.m14 Electrical convertor http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-SPEEDO-CONVER...id=p3286.c0.m14 better if you just use a uk ecu. b4z Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 thanks mate a was told the sti v2 would be a bit of an up grade for ma car. i had an stil v1 ecu on the car and it never had the restrictor but that one had a chip in it
sti pretender Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Would also point out a Jap ecu is not mapped for UK fuel. You'd be better going for an aftermarket ecu such as an Apexi and getting it mapped. Cheaper than damaging your engine with incorrect fuelling.
b4z Posted October 7, 2009 Author Posted October 7, 2009 I have a delimiter fits in the back of the dash clocks if you need it just drop me a pm was for a ver 1/2Gordy A was told a needed the cable one for a v2 can u fit eather or?
johnnyr6 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I would be wary about using an import ecu in a uk car without having it mapped to suit. Also i doubt you'd notice any difference without mapping. You can get the v2 ecu mapped which will give more power safely. I would convert it back if your car was running fine on the original ecu and speak to andy f about the best option for you. Johnny.
