midshipracer
Hi, I am wanting to upgrade my braking on my WRX wagon. Its running 302 hp and the standard brakes are not enough. Spotted these on the bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Impreza-WRX-Bugeye-B...id=p3286.c0.m14 Anyone used them? What about pads anyone with any recomendations. thanks Link to comment
Richie Cross
Hi, Haven't heard of them. Have you thought of someone like Godspeed? If I remember, his front discs are about £89 a pair and you get a 12mth warranty. Ian recommends that you stick with grooved only if it's for road use. He also does a 335mm conversion kit. As for pads, give Alyn as AS Performance a call. I've got the Ferodo DS2500 pads on the front with the OEM discs and better than OEM pads but not as good as Ferodos on the rear. Noticed the difference over the standard pads and no squeal etc. Think I'm going for the 335mm conversion soon Link to comment
pmacFTO
Not sure if you want to go to a big brake kit or just new pads and discs - I went for Godspeeds own discs and Mintex Extreme and they were very good - pads didn't last long tho...I now have Godspeed's own Kevlar pads and they are good but not as good as the Mintex (my WRX is also 300bhp) but if you want really good get Ferrodo DS2500 or Carbotech - search on here as brakes are discussed a LOT Edited September 24, 2009 by pmacFTO Link to comment
fai17
Think I'm going for the 335mm conversion soon No wonder Richie as you are running a little more than a standard WRX You want to go to Crail mate? Link to comment
arch
As richie says give Alyn at AS Performance a ring he can advise you on the best combination for your needs and his prices are about as cheap as you will get. I got some Endless racing pads for my road blobeye WRX on Alyn's recommendation as he said they performed as well as Ferrodo DS2500 but had a longer life span and I have to be honest I am impressed I think they are better than the DS2500's I had on the RA when I had 4 pots on. They were also cheaper http://www.asperformance.com/contact.htm Link to comment
sti pretender
Be wary of ebay cheap brakes, is worth spending a bit extra getting a known make for piece of mind that you will stop. Avoid EBC (grooved and dimpled) discs have warped a set in less than 12 months and a few others have had the same. Have just ordered a full set of discs and pads (Ferodo) for my newage from Godspeed also running their discs on the front of the Type R. 12 month warranty is a bonus as not many companies offer this. Richie Cross
No wonder Richie as you are running a little more than a standard WRX You want to go to Crail mate? Not as much as I'd like!!! I've been thinking that I should've done the brakes by now!!! I thought I didn't necessaryily need them......my driving has obviously been way too conservative!!! As for Crail, only been once Peter and I would like to go back (didn't run my car that time) but I'd also like to go to your place for food again....it's just seeing at the time with the wife's work/looking after Abi etc. Edited September 24, 2009 by Richie Cross Link to comment
