Speedo Failure

Hi,

can anyone tell me if M reg 95 WRX has speedo cable or electronic? Also, if speedo fails, is there a sensor detecting this?. My speedometer stopped working on the Monday but no warning lights. After a long (100 mile round trip) Check Engine light has appeared although car seems to be running ok.

Any help please?

Are they not all Sensor run?

Pritty sure the wrx are the same as the sti which is cable driven, Ecu need to read the speed or the check light will appear. Check to see if the speedo cable itself had popped out. (Top of gearbox)

would'nt worry about it m8 my sti speedo has been broke for months,

bloody thing keeps saying i am going alot faster than i think i am doing

Same thing happened to mine, The cable had popped out just above the gear box.

Thanks for the info guys. Reckon thats what it is then. Cable still attched, so will replace and hopefully that dammed light will go out!
