Pete invites his mum round for tea and to meet his new flat-mate Joe who she notices is very handsome and perhaps a little 'camp'. Although she'd suspected her son to be gay it was something he'd always denied - he simply referred to John as his flat-mate.

A week later Joe was unable to find the frying-pan and said to Pete "Since your mum came round last week the frying-pan has been missing"

Pete emailed his mum and asked if she'd taken it. "Dear mum, I'm not saying you did take the frying-pan, I'm not saying you didn't take the frying-pan but it's been missing ever since you came here for tea, love Pete"

She replied "Dear Pete, I'm not saying you are sleeping with Joe, I'm not saying you're not sleeping with Joe, but if he'd been using his own bed this past week he'd have found the fecking frying-pan by now, love mum"
