I fully accept that the thread could so quickly degenerate into a free-for-all as it did before but hey, Pele started it and has yet to respond. She should be made accountable for the comments she made - and her being our co-regional organiser - I think not for much longer if this is her view of the club that she never attends Edited January 7, 2009 by BASER999

(Keep it clean please) it could be used for a new setup name for a garage in kent? or used as a sponser name for track days or used to sell kentscoobies goods, clothing, graphics, etc or kentscoobies breakdown recovery services / scrap yard ill try & think of some more Edited January 7, 2009 by col_2
granby Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) OK guys & girls seems i was a bit hasty in deleting the posts , i can't put all the separate posts back but i will put them all in this one post, Pele's response was in reply to Deani_age first post I have recently purchased the domain name www.kentscoobies.com and was wondering if KS members have any suggestions what they would like to see it used for. (Keep it clean please) Pele Well congratulations Dean, you are now the new leader of KentScoobies so do with it as you please. Just remember a few simple things and you should be fine; No matter what you do it will always be wrong or never good enough for anyone, so don't expect to ever get any thanks in the event that you do get anything right. You need to make sure you go to every meet and event or everyone gets upset and questions your leadership. KentScoobies leader needs to be able to afford to go to everything. When you go to an event make sure you have everyones mobile number so you can make sure that they can all get home OK or arrange to convoy back with them. Make sure your number and e-mail is available to everyone 24-7 and be able to answer queries no matter how mundane or what time of day or night it is. Be prepared to plan your holidays around meets and events. I'm sure that you will get on fine as leader, so good luck to you - you are going to need it. BASER999 Pele, you don't show up on here very often now but when you do you certainly leave your mark. Whats this all about? Is Ian (Granby) no longer our regional organiser? I'm damn sure that at times, despite all your comments, you really just set out to antagonise people and there can surely be no better example of this than this latest post. Ok I've risen to the bait so here goes. Of course whoever heads up the club is never going to get total agreement from everybody. By the same token, those that do attend would never expect that person to turn out all the time - we all have commitments outside of the club - family, work, financial and such like. However, I personally don't think it unreasonable for the leadership of any club or organisation to be questioned when it is headed up by individuals who show no active part in any of its activities, for whatever reason. Since his appointment Ian has organised events and turned out to many of those that Kent Scoobies have attended. If he doesn't already have the information, he asks for contact details for anyone that is attending an event and generally makes himself available if anyone has a query. I can't see what you're getting at as regards emails - I recollect having supplied these details on club forms before now and am sure that if I should need to email you I could do so via the pm facility as can anyone else here? Most of the issues surrounding the running of the club were raised at a meeting a couple of years ago and which perhaps with hindsight were never fully addressed? Shortly prior to that meeting some of the older members here decided to leave the club because of leadership issues at the time. Is it any wonder when you now post up these sort of comments? Granby Whats all this for Pele All Dean has done is purchase the www.kentscoobies.com domain name and asking us for suggestions, when you had it, it was always directed to a holding page and nothing else Don't think any members expect the leader R/O to be at every event or show but they would like to see them every now & then As far as i'm aware i'm still the SIDC R/O but i will never go to every event or show (been there done that) but i will always try to help members where i can and if i can't i'll try and find someone that can help them Ian BASER999 Quite agree Ian - and said as much in my post Eureka what the **** !!!!!! does this mean you are stepping down pele Scooby Hoo Hi Pele It is a sad day when you have to post comments like you have. Kent Scoobies is a group of people getting together because of a shared interest. Some of the members are able to fund very nice projects and others run there car on a very tight budget but no matter which group you aspire to the members have a common bond. If Dean is to run .com as a business and return a profit, then if things go wrong he will be asked to account. Did you not try and make a small profit yourself? The way to peoples hearts? I can't say, but making comments in the manner you have is far from uplifting. I for one wish Dean all the best with his new project and would like to see him make a great success of it. I would also hope to keep seeing you at meets but I fear you have made your own bed. I will take this opportunity to say thank you for all the hard work that you have , in the past, put into Kent Scoobies. Kind regards Hugh. Remember this thread was started by deani_age asking for suggestions for the domain name www.kentscoobies.com, please keep any replies civil Ian Edited January 7, 2009 by Granby
ScoobyShep Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) Im sure this may have been a 'Bad Day' reply from Pele, granted I have only met her twice over the 3 meets I've been too, and she seemed a nice girly to me and she has had car trouble as regards to her not attending to meets, but I hope no one has been left with bad feelings over one bad reply, after all we all have a mutral love and passion for our cars. I know Im still quite new on here so I dont know whats happened over the years, but i hope dean enjoys having the new domain name, a domain I hope to be a part of. Spread the love people Edited January 7, 2009 by ScoobyShep
deani_age Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 I would like to make the following clear to all concerned. I did not buy www.kentscoobies.com to run as a business. Pele did originally own the rights to www.kentscoobies.com, but let it lapse. I paid the arrears on the domain name (2 years I believe) in the hope to get it back for her, but this did not happen. The domain name has been in limbo for the last year, and when I was offered it, I did not hesitate to buy it. I would be happy for the KS Club to put the domain name to good use, hence my request for suggestions from KS club members as to what they would like to see it used for. I do not have any aspirations to run Kent Scoobies, and like most other members think Ian is a worthy R.O. So just to recap. Yes I have bought www.kentscoobies.com Yes I would like to see the domain name put to good use No I don't want to run .com as a business No I don't want to run kent scoobies club as the R.O or otherwise I hope that makes my position clear.
ScoobyShep Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I would like to see midget strips once a month on kentscoobies and all girl jelly wrestling every other week, hope that would be ok
granby Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I would like to see midget strips once a month on kentscoobies and all girl jelly wrestling every other week, hope that would be ok
mikkers Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Thanks for putting the original posts back Granby, its important people feel their opinions can be aired and over the top censorship will just result in people not expressing opinions and adding to the resentment. But frankly its about bloody time someone did something with kentscoobies.com, i dont know how long the club has been going for but to not be represented by the most obvious webpage for so long is bonkers. So im glad its in the hands of someone who will do something with it, and why anyone would think ownership of a domain name automatically constitutes being the "leader" is beyond me. I think everyone already knows who the most commited person is and does 90% (probably more) of all the organising and information sharing, and luckily they are already the sidc r/o.
Pele Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 If I have upset anyone, then I a sorry but I’ve bitten my lip and stayed quiet far too long and just had to let it all out. When you have given over 6 years of commitment to a club to then be treated as I have in the last year it sort of boils over. I have tried to word this a bit better as being diplomatic is not my strong point somethimes.... In response to everyone, Baser - I could have guessed you would be the first to reply. All the points above were made because that is what I have done in order to run KentScoobies, and that is the level of commitment I was willing to give until people started questioning everything I did. I would quite happily give this commitment again, but from the lack of support for me on here I don’t think I’m wanted around here. I didn’t know I was co-Regional Organiser, when did that happen? Eureka - yes I am stepping down, there is no point me trying to continue with little support from the club members when I try and organise anything. I cannot continue to try and make things work within the club if I am not wanted there in the first place can I? There is only so much pushing one person can take and I’m afraid the last year or so of contant sniping and comments directed at me have pushed me that bit too far, so I’m going to just be a member and turn up when and where I want without it being questioned. I believe this is the right thing to do and I really can’t see anyone arguing with me to step back up can you? Scooby Hoo - I have NEVER EVER run KentScoobies as a profit making club, and I really resent you making that remark. When I started the club I paid for everything, including deposits for t-shirts, shows and days out - and never asked members to contribute to anything for the club displays. I did this because I could at the time. When I ran into financial difficulties and had to start asking for money for things upfront this is when things within the club began to go wrong. I have never made any money from it, in fact KentScoobies probably owes me money, not that I would ever have taken anything for doing something which I enjoyed. IF I wanted to take money from the club would I not have opened up the KentScoobies bank account in my own name, rather than suggesting that you, Big Jay and I opened one up together? As for KentScoobies.com, yes Dean did pay the subscription up to date last year and from then I have been trying to get it linked back up to the forums. I have made countless phone calls and e-mails (and I still have these if anyone wants to see them) to the provider asking why I cannot access the account to link it to the SIDC forum. I have been through to so many different departments I’m sure I must have spoken to everyone in that particular company and I have now been told that it was sold not once but twice. I am waiting for confirmation of exactly when this happened as if it was before Dean payed the subscription up to date for me then hopefully he will be able to recover the charges back. When I took over the running of the club 6 years ago I was just left to get on and organise everything, which I was quite happy to do as I had the time. Members didn’t want to have to organise things themselves, they just wanted to have it sorted for them and turn up on the day at the allocated places. That is how they came to call me KentScoobies Bossy Boots, and I was quite happy to boss them about if that was what they wanted. It’s very difficult to go from doing everything to being told that members now wanted to do things themselves, you find yourself a bit of a spare part. I will still come along to meets, as to me KentScoobies has been like my extended family, its just a shame that with everyone wanting different things my time at the forefront has had to come to an end. My years starting and running this club have brought me some of the best times and memories and many good friends have been made. The last year or so has been one of the worst. I’ve not been able to do much due to ill health both for me and the car, hopefully when we both get our respective operations we can do what we like best get back out on the track and down the strip....
Scooby Hoo? Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 It must be me that is mistaken then as you collected the £10 from me, for the Kent scoobies /aka name window stickers, when I first joined the region. As Herman and Scuzz have not changed me that much for replacements, I must contact Matt as I obviously owe him some money.
Pele Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 It must be me that is mistaken then as you collected the £10 from me, for the Kent scoobies /aka name window stickers, when I first joined the region. As Herman and Scuzz have not changed me that much for replacements, I must contact Matt as I obviously owe him some money. When Matt first did the stickers they did cost £10 to produce as he didn't bulk order the sticky stuff. However when he knew that he would be getting more orders he brought more therefore bringing the price down, after which I told everyone to go direct to Matt to order them.
Herman Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 When Matt first did the stickers they did cost £10 to produce as he didn't bulk order the sticky stuff. However when he knew that he would be getting more orders he brought more therefore bringing the price down, after which I told everyone to go direct to Matt to order them. With regards to this, the last lot of stickers we supplied were quoted at £10 with £2 going to the KS fund, We have in the past suppled window name stickers that do not have the KS map, therefore they are cheaper and are done direct through us not KS. When we first started supplying stickers we were buying the vinyl through third parties and it was costing us an extortionate amount of money, Recently we sourced new suppliers and in doing so has allowed us to give something to KS. Unfortunatly £2 per order is not a lot but hopefully every little helps. In the past we have taken orders from KS for names and maps and brought them to meets and people have not turned up, we have been left with stickers that are worthless to us and have cost us money. Hopefully that sorts this out.
eureka Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 pele what you have done by slepping down is a brave and difficult desision by yourself and i for one respect you for that i cannot recall all the time i have been at the club anyone ever saying they didnt want you around just better leadership deani age has done a great thing by purchasing this domain name and asking the club what they would like to do with it im sure he has better things to do with his money than splash out on things for the club to benefit so big round off applause to dean for that so lets now move on and learn from this
granby Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) I didn’t know I was co-Regional Organiser, when did that happen? Well you was at the meeting when you decided to split the Kent Scoobies R/O role into 2, i was to be the SIDC Kent Scoobies R/O and you the Kent Scoobies R/O Anyway i applaud you for taking the difficult decision to step down as i know K/S has been a major part of your life but i do feel it's probably the best thing to do, the thing that got on members nerves (me included ) was you were seen to be our leader but didn't seem to do anything, and i know there have been reasons for this but it just seemed to go on and on but hopefully now you can step back and not worry about it (mostly ), you will always be welcome at any meet or event but please leave the bossy boots at home Ian Edited January 8, 2009 by Granby
deani_age Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Can I just remind everbody that I started this thread asking for suggestions from Kent Scoobies members as to what www.kentscoobies.com could be used for. I bought the domain name as I believe it should belong to the club and be for Kent Scoobies club members to use. In addition, the domain will be able to support "Senior Members" with an e-mail address, for example granby@kentscoobies.com. With regards to the running of KS, I think Pele has been a good ambassador for the club, likewise Ian as SIDC R.O. Big Jay, Shiralee, Scoots, Hol, JK, The Guru etc... to name but a few. Sorry to those that I left out, however it is time to move on, so please would you put the thread back on track and start suggesting a use for the domain name. Regards Dean
granby Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Dean could i suggest you start another thread about www.kentscoobies.com (add the suggestions already submitted into it) but with a different title and i'll unstick this one and make the other thread a sticky
