Removing Side Skirts.

As you can see in the pic my RA was imported with side skirts but i'd like to remove them, if possible..

After a quick look to see what's behind them it doesn't look like it's going to be a straight forward job to put it back to standard , fill in the holes and get them painted etc..sadly.

My first thought was to fit a front splitter and rear plastics but now I think it would look much better if I removed them all together..

Has anyone had prior experience here as to what would be the best way to go about it?

It would be good to see them go but with it being a pretty clean/low mileage car for the year I obviously don't want to spoil the look of the car or make a mess of things.

Cheers

Removing the skirts would leave 5 or 6 plastic locating plugs on each side.

You would need to remove the plugs, and have the holes welded up (you wouldn't want to use filler).

Then it's a repaint, but not too difficult as it's just the sills.

A lot of work,.................... I think I would leave them.

Thanks David.

I kinda thought it was going to be a PITA to put right but *hoped* it wasn't going to be too expensive to fix.

Hmmm.... :P

I've seen a thread on the RA site about sill guards? but i'm not too sure about them tbh. I'll wait and see if the guy sends me close up pics so I can see how good they fit ,what kinda quality they are and see if they look any good on his car before i do anything else.

Frank you could always get some gromets for the holes on the underside of the sill (you wont see them)...

and for the holes on the face of the sills. you could get a bit of colour coded vinyl and run it along the full face of the sill (or cut out small circles and place them over the holes) then lay a graphic on top (www.AFP.co.uk ect ect ).. THIS WAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE OPTION OF STICKING THEM BACK ON :P ... plus the vinyl will stop ya sill from getting stones chipped

ive seen colour coded vinyl being used to cover spoiler holes (wingless scoobs) + ive used it when i removed the rear wiper of ma Golf :D.. you cant even see it unless you get up close and whos going to be staring at ya sills anyway ;):(

catcha :P

oh have a good xmas and new year when it comes big man :D
