DavieR Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Hiya Folks just wondering if someone can tell me if the rear subaru badge on a hawkeye is just stuck on like the front one (grill) or is it bolted on Thanks Davie
Spaceman Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 got a feeling it has 2 locating pins but is glued on?
colzo Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 It definitely has 2 pins as I was going to replace the SUBARU lettering with the Hawkeye badge but couldn't be ar$ed cutting the pins off and filing them down for a flush fit.
DavieR Posted December 14, 2008 Author Posted December 14, 2008 thanks for the replies.. i had a look under the boot lid and noticed 2 bolts, i take it that these are holding the rear badge on awe well i will just have to settle with painting the front one for now cheers again
oletam Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 thanks for the replies..i had a look under the boot lid and noticed 2 bolts, i take it that these are holding the rear badge on awe well i will just have to settle with painting the front one for now cheers again I was going to paint the front one but when I took it off it look like a sealed badge and I couldn't separate it. Let me know how you get on.
DavieR Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 I was going to paint the front one but when I took it off it look like a sealed badge and I couldn't separate it. Let me know how you get on. i've painted my front badge with a saltire background (i will try and get pics up asap) on my badge (hawkeye) once you take badge off and remove the double sided tape which held it on the badge should fall out of the chrome effect surround just sand back off the badge with some fine wet n dry paper. it will remove the paint and end up clear. someone posted this topic not long ago try doing a search as it had a guide as what to do cheers
davidexige Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 The rear badge is held on by a type of double sided foam tape, to remove it I ran some fishing line under the badge to try and cut the tape, then heated it with a hair drier whilst gently easing it off, the pins are for locating it, they don’t fasten it on.
