High Oil Pressure - Fixed :d

Just wondering if there is anything else I can check for the cause of my high oil pressure before I get Hypertech to fit a new oil pump, assuming the pressure relief valve is blocked, it seems pretty common. The pressure my racetech gauge was showing has been confirmed correct by a calibrated mechanical gauge so I can rule out the gauge malfunctioning!

Not many other likely faults, but have you tried something as simple as a filter change?

No m8 - that was suggested and I may do it now but all this happened just after I had put 3 litres of Millers finest in so I didn't want to change the filter and pay for oil again! It's had a service in the last 3-6 months and had a new filter then.

I thought that but the bloody local garage I went to said I'd need to change the oil! Was just a young guy...they prob get told to say that. Well, I'll def try that first! Cheers m8 :D

Hmm...just called Kwik Fit and they won't change the filter without changing oil...even tho I told them I just put 3l of fresh oil in and just want filter done. Feckers lol

New oil pump in and we finished it last night at 11.30 in the snow...fired it up and after it was up to temp the pressure came down nicely ;) Need new coolant now before I can go for a drive! Do I need anything special or just standard stuff from Motor Factors? So glad the little saga is over and I can stop driving the scenic...been a nightmare trying to share it between taking kids to nursery and both of us going to work etc!

So the outcome is that the filter got a little chocked up?

I'd be wondering what it is chocked up with...unless it was due for a change due to mileage, hard use etc.

No - filter was fine - we had to put a new oil pump in as the pressure relief valve in them can stick - hence the modified ones you get.
