daniel Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 all sounds like a great idea, and some second hand parts are worth selling too, I'm on the hunt for a speedline wheel which is proving to be quite hard. good luck mate
Jolly Green Monster Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 From a slightly different angle.. I use a dyno for mapping and have to travel to Surrey to do so.. there are two nearer but due to various reasons... mainly fans insufficent and there lack of willing to change for my needs in the slightest etc.. so I would be very interested in renting out a dyno.. current fav being a dyno dynamics.. Simon

Great to see your attention to detail, some people would just put up with the hassle and stay local as it could mean more profit, but i'd be happier knowing that corners are not being, cut or compromises being made to suit other people when it came to me parting with hard earned money (we I try hard anyway) and my car. The guy that does my mechanical repairs is the same, he will never cut a corner and would rather phone me with bad news than try and mash it back together! Had one of those yesterday.......................appears exhaust was original and does not wish to be removed from car and is breaking studs!!!!! Tunnel run is touch and go lol
granby Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Have to agree about having a dyno with decent fans, been on a few dynos and while most of them have adequate fans for cooling most of them miss out on getting enough airflow to the scoop for the TMIC, i remember seeing a pic on scoobynet ages ago where this dyno operator had made up his own fan & ducting just for the TMIC ps...when it opens can i have a job pls

I prefer a large fan as tall as the car.. then you get reasonable air flow and some realism.. yes I still have to check on the road after and after using it so much I now rarely have to alter the map after on the road.. ie. I am mapping around the slight difference between road and rollers.. but the heat in the air intake due to lack of air flow on some rollers is stupid.. Simon

It the attention to detail that makes all the difference! Hence next wad of dosh is heading JGM's way lol

Also an over the counter parts centre for imports etc and uk modified cars . Any more of your ideas would be cool You are the second person I have heard of recently doing this kind of thing. I was speaking with Saj @ Jap Performance a month or so ago, he is moving from his current venue in Crawley to a much bigger unit, which will include a cafe on site. He is aiming at getting various Jap Clubs to visit and hold regular meets there. Plus because of his Jap import business he will flog shed loads of 2nd hand parts. The only thing you will be doing that he won't is the rolling road. Good luck with it matey, it is a cracking idea. Edited October 27, 2008 by worzel
