Well that was one of the best meets I've been to in a long time:D Everybody talking to each other and no clicky groups, just how it should be

Or the beginning of SES.

Went to Laker road for the first time so missed you. :gay::thumbup::)

If those who want to start SES and be a part of it then go for it may be KS would be better off with out them.

If I'm not wrong I think they already have and some of Kent Scoobie members went along to the first meet.

Well jolly good for them.

Everyone that was at the last Notts meet was invited along by SES, who put in a big effort to invite Kent Scoobies along, :gay: so I don't understand why you're getting so shirty about it. :)

Or perhaps you feel that Kent Scoobie members should only go to KS meets and that going to other club meets (like some of the membership) is being disloyal to Kent.

Well said Hugh - perhaps if people are only going to turn up at the monthly meet at Notcutts or the Wharf then any form of opposition to that is certainly going to cause waves. . . .

All I said is that it was nice to have everyone talking to each other with no clicky groups. This seems to have been misconstrued. It can be very intimidating to a new member to approach these groups, please remember we were all new once and had to introduce ourselves, and I still go through it every time I approach a new member to introduce myself and the club. Please if you see someone standing about looking lost make an effort to go and say hi and chat, or introduce them to someone else, this way there are no awkward moments and then the newbie will go away with a positive view of the club and want to come back. I agree it's nice to catch up with other members, but feel his should not come before making newbies feel welcome first, after all we do all want the club to continue gathering members.

As for the feeling disloyal if you go to another meet, why should that be? In the past we have often gone along to other meets, usually en mass but other times just one or two - this is good for both clubs involved as it encourages members to talk outside their own little groups (hopefully ;) )

It would be nice for KentScoobies to continue, but with all the bitching I honestly can't say how much longer there will be a club. :o

Gotta say as a newbie................never a truer word said. Having been in various car clubs this is all to often a sad start to a swift end. Let's hope not as i'd like at least to make it to one meet lol!

On the brighter side, i'll talk to ANYONE, even if you don't want me to talk to you....i will!!! lol failing that, little Dan will as he is Scoobie mad.(and 4 so just goes on and on and on) You could always get someone to wear hi viz..............................."new members come here" on the back lol .go on slate me for it i deserve it lol However, what we found was that if you looked at it this way, if someone pulls up next to your car at a meet, and you don't recognise them, go over and say hello. If you don't remember, they may not be there for the meet, but to eye up YOUR car! Yes it HAS happended and I am sure, if they had known that the "new" face in the carpark was actually there taking details they may have paid more attention. Luckily someone did and they were caught, just a lesson learnt that i thought i'd share.

My first meet was the last one at Notcutts and i gotta say it was difficult being a newbie, A few people introduced themselves but most people were engrossed in conversations and although i can be quite chatty i didn't want to interrupt anyone in full flow!! I did expect my first meet to be awkward, and i wasn't wrong but i know what to expect from the next meet and hopefully can get involved in some of the chatter going on.

Got to say though the atmosphere was good and the cars were stunning and that it hasn't put me off although i can see that some people may be (if not that then the cold weather!!..... It was tatoes!!!!))

Looking forward to the next meet seeing as i couldn't make the Wharf one.
