eureka Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 does it do this when the cars first started then settles when warm??? does as soon as i start and stays mate
Martin typeR Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Could be the idle controll valve, i am having this problem on my type r which has been diagnosed as this. Or the maf.
col_2 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 does as soon as i start and stays mate ermmmm i wonder if it could be something silly like the peddle or sticky cable, have you tried lifting the peddle up abit, or spraying the linkage with wd40? just a thought to count the simple thing out first,
eureka Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 Could be the idle controll valve, i am having this problem on my type r which has been diagnosed as this. Or the maf. could this relate to the stopping of the pop and banging
Martin typeR Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 could this relate to the stopping of the pop and banging Not sure about that one, mine still pops and bangs. Does it settle down after a while, mine some times will be fine, stop at a set of lights tick over is at 1500 rpm drive off next set of lights it will be back to normal.

Martin typeR Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 onlt just started mate so i dont know about that one just went out to start and sat at 120 for a min then crept back up to 150 A word of warning if it is the idle control valve is that when mine first started playing up i got zen performance to look at it when i was there they said it might just need a clean out, this worked but messing with it wiped the map from my apexi ecu, lucky i was there so they could put my map straight back on. dont know why this happened or if it happens every time you disconect it, but bear it in mind if you are going to change it.

eurosti Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I cant see how cleaning the ICV would wipe a map! You have to physically select the Init data function and then select Yes for it to wipe the map!

Martin typeR Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 did you get check engine lights up when yopur failed No check engine light come up with apexi ecu, apart from excesive knock.
higgsey Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 hi it could just be a vaccume line come off or the idle air control valve sticking try taking it off and cleaning it maybe with carb cleaner spray and check all the vaccume hoses as they get brittle and break real easy. paul
dazzlers82 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 did you sort steve an did you check for any vacumn leaks an clean the icv valve ??????
