BLUE V LTD Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Did you know the biggest convoy for a single make of car is the Fiat 500, with 500 cars. http://www.guinnessrecords.com/records/tra..._fiat_cars.aspx Surley we can beat this at the Colin Mcrae gathering with all the cars going, I think this would be a great way to remember the great man himself by having this day a record breaker.
scoobytibs Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 think we will beat it by a large margin if not double it lol were all be record breakers
BLUE V LTD Posted August 14, 2008 Author Posted August 14, 2008 To log a record attempt you have to apply for it and it takes 6 - 8 weeks or you can fast track it at a cost i think.
pmacFTO Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I think you'll find that something will no doubt have been planned and organised already - no way would anyone let an opportunity like this pass without finding out about how to register the attempt at one or more records that day;) I hope it's not most speeding tickets ever issued in one day (I know there is a 60mph limit but it was just a wee joke!)
swifty1981 Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 i thought the evos done it lately and had 700 cars

granby Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Taken from the last Colin McRae Gathering email RECORD BREAKERS We’ve seen comments on various Internet Forums along the lines of “Why aren’t we breaking any world records at this event?” One reply we saw stated “I think you'll find that something will no doubt have been planned and organised already” That guy didn’t know it when he posted, but he was spot on. We WILL be breaking two world records as part of our tribute to Colin. An amazing amount of work has gone on behind the scenes to sort this out and to have a Guinness World Records adjudicator on site on the day. We’ve not been able to publicise things until it was all confirmed and sorted out with the Guinness people, but that is now all sorted, and we are absolutely delighted to announce that we will not only break, but SMASH two world records: 1) Most cars of a single marque in convoy – The current record is held by the FIAT 500 Club with 500 Cars in convoy. We will have 1100-plus cars in convoy and will more than double the current record, 2) Most cars forming a Mosaic/Picture. - This record was set in July by Volkswagen with 265 taking part. We will obliterate that with over 1000 cars taking part in our tribute. It’s cost us £2000 to have Guinness World Record people on-site on the day to verify our smashing of these records, but we thought that a good investment to provide a permanent record just how highly Colin McRae is regarded. If any business or individual wishes to donate to help us cover that cost then we’d love to hear from you!
