har Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 gonnae be fitting an up pipe to my 1996 wrx this weekend, any hints and is it a b****r to do or will i manage it nae bother
emoe Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 No mate, its fairly easy as long as the bolts arent siezed! You can get a grinder and take out the lip thats in there too! Do the same to the turbo flange as well, as this lip causes some turbulence.
har Posted June 26, 2008 Author Posted June 26, 2008 hope so as ave just had ma back fixed and not wantin tae be lying under the car for hours
emoe Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 hope so as ave just had ma back fixed and not wantin tae be lying under the car for hours I got to say, i did mine over a pit. Im not sure how easy it will be on the jack stands. is there noone near with a two post ramp or a pit you can borrow for an hour?
har Posted June 26, 2008 Author Posted June 26, 2008 not really, might just put it in to a garage and get it done,ma backs still playin up a wee bit
har Posted July 6, 2008 Author Posted July 6, 2008 just got my up pipe delivered this weekend all heat wrapped and ready to fit,do i need to fit new gaskets or will the old ones do with some assembly paste
craigy Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 done mine with stands, very easy was mine but others have struggled due to the bolts
craigy Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 just got my up pipe delivered this weekend all heat wrapped and ready to fit,do i need to fit new gaskets or will the old ones do with some assembly paste i put a new gasket on mate no paste at all if your gasket is good you can reuse it but i would bang a newun on it
emoe Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Dont use paste!!!! Use a decent gasket and DONT USE PASTE!! the paste dries out and cracks and then ends up leaking on the up-pipe!! Been there and had that problem before!!
har Posted July 6, 2008 Author Posted July 6, 2008 cheers for the info, will i be able to get a gasket from any main dealers, and i take it all classics are the same gaskets
