Anyone From Aberdeen...

Hi guys,

Woke up this morning to find a N.I.P. through the letter box stating I was caught Doing 51 on a 40 on Wellington road on the 9th May in the wifes jeep.

Fair play to them, I'm caught, been a bad boy etc. etc., will take the 3 points and fine, but thinking back, that was when I was dropping my scooby off for its service at Town and Country and my wife was following me to pick me up.

So if anyone remembers seeing a scamera van etc. on Wellington road on the 9th and where about it was please let us know, because if the wife was doing 51mph and was following me, Christ knows how fast i could have been going in the scooby...

Or to put it another way, how far over the limit do you have to be before its not a polite 'send us money and we slap your license deal' and they start sending out court letters??

I honestly don't remember speeding to any great amount after getting into the outskirts of Aberdeen, but going down the hill after the Altens roundabout I do recall the road being very quiet and most of the other cars (which there was surprisingly few) going pretty slow....

Not too sure what the law in a 40 would be, I'd guess that 55+ would be referred rather than a plain 3-pointer... my mum got 4 points and a £200 fine a few years ago for doing 51 in a 30 @ 6am, JUST before it opened up into wide open countryside. I also got into trouble for an average of 113mph on the A90 (70 limit) a couple of years back on my way to Aberdeen, that cost me £300 and a 3 month ban.

How fast do you think you were going??

i got busted doing 55 in a 40 two years ago by the last scamera heading into aberdeen from dundee, just the basic 3 points and 60 squid i got

To be honest Grant i really dont have a clue but if the wife was doing 50ish in her slow as sin jeep it could be anything up to 20mph more....

I've just emailed the camera people for the photos to see if i can work out where it was and take it from there.

They were parked about two thirds of the way up the hill between the Shell offices junction and the Altens roundabout - opposite side of the road to you. I was up there about 10:15 and they were there at that time. I was stuck behind something slow - thank goodness.

p.s. I was also up there about 08:25 but am sure it was the later trip when I saw them

Thanks Infiltrator, the time on the ticket is 10:09am so that ties in.

Still cant for the life of me remember how fast I was going but do remember passing the wife just before the Altens circle, so probably have carried a bit of speed down the hill.

Have been told by a few people that anything over 50% over the limit, ie-60mph in a 40 area, and theres no fixed penatly notice, its a summons.

Oh well, will just have to play the waiting game to see what comes through the post in the next few weeks.
