tiny gsy Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 While parking the scoob at work on thursday lunchtime, It tried to die on me and then developed a rattle Until then it hadn`t been driven for a week as I`ve got a little runaround now that I bought for £100 and the only reason I`d taken it to work was to get it weighed so that I could register it locally. Unfortunately I didn`t even get it weighed. At the moment its sat down at my gran`s house in the corner. Now all I`ve got to do is decide whats next. I am tempted to sell it, and to that effect I`ve emailed www.japperformanceparts.co.uk to see how much they`d give me for it. At the moment that is only one option though. Another option is to rebuild the 2.0 litre thats in it at the moment but with uprated internals as I believe that if I wanted to rally it I would need it to be 2.0. The third option is to go for a 2.5 litre which although I wouldn`t be able to rally it, it should give it enough power and torque to hillclimb it instead which I`d be happy enough with for now at least. Either way I can see that neither of these routes is going to be cheap I`ve got a turbo waiting for me as well at Aj`s. Any ideas?
petenofear Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 (edited) sorry to here that tiny if only i knon 2 days ago as i had a very good turbo bottom end i have just sold on ebay it was a complete engine with valve bent what u asking for the car then mate Edited March 29, 2008 by petenofear
jd Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I hope you dont sell her & manage the rebuild mate as I know this is the scoob you have wanted for a long while. Fingers crossed.
Voices Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 im trying to persuede him to do the rebuild Steve. Althought the 2.5 option is a good one it still means a lot of work. His best bet is perhaps send the whole sacr away and have the work done the fly over and collect. Id love to be able to help him more but i have mine to do. Tiny helping out so i can teach him basics of scooby engine. Tiny, if you gonna hillclimb it you will need a cage. No doubt about it. Its a modified car so they wont let you run without one. You can still sprint it but you wont be eligeble for any records... that wat i hope to do. Mike

tiny gsy Posted March 31, 2008 Author Posted March 31, 2008 Don`t worry mate I know it`ll need a cage and buckets among other things. Its just a possible/likely future for it if I decide to keep it. Have been into Bluchip today and they`re going to let me know approximate costs on a rebuild as another alternative
Voices Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 nice one mikeis the "showboat" class a definate go then? what are the regs for it? Ozzy ran his Skyline a few times and beat Christian R from Jersey both times... I just wanna get it rebuilt and run in before playing....
jd Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 if the showboat is an anything goes, may be tempted to run mine down if over in the summer.
