baser999 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 (edited) I know its only the end of February but I'd like to get some feedback as to what sort of trip people would like, assuming there is of course enough interest in organising one. Hence the reason for this seperate post. 1. The initial proposal was for a day trip to Bruges, travelling out around 0830/0900 and returning about 2200 local time. The Shuttle would cost around £59 per car. 2. For the same cost on the Shuttle, its possible to stay over on the Saturday night and return Sunday. This would enable us to have a meal, a few beers etc without the worry of driving back that night. 3. Make a long weekend of it by travelling out Friday and returning Sunday. The Shuttle costs unfortunately rise to about £111 per car, plus there would of course be two nights accommodation to pay for - this could be two nights in Bruges or one in Bruges, one in France perhaps? Anyone not wanting (or able) to stay the whole weekend could just do the Saturday or Sunday. Could I please ask for those that are genuinely interested to respond to this thread with their preferred option ie Day trip, Saturday stopover or Long Weekend, by 7 MARCH at which point a definite decision will be made. If there is interest in any form of stopover I'm happy to do the legwork in searching for accommodation etc **PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD PURELY FOR STATING YOUR PREFERRED OPTION............THANK YOU** Edited March 7, 2008 by BASER999
Scooby Hoo? Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Going over to Belgium next week, so I'll nip to Bruges for a couple of nights to carry out a reccie. I do know that it's best to walk around the old town and park the cars near the train station. Give me a brief Baser 999 and I'll see what I can do, time permitting. Leaving Monday morning first thing, so PM me before then if I can help.

baser999 Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 Hugh, if we get down to a vote, we may as well forget about going in 2008! Like I said in the initial post, at this stage I'd just like to run this thread until 7 March to see what sort of response we get from those that are genuinely interested in going ie Day trip, Saturday stopover or Long Weekend. Will send you a pm about your trip.

vickyk Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 due to cost of long weekend working out a bit too much we would prefer the 2nd option of a 1 night stopover on saturday coming back on sunday. Breaks up the journey and allowes us a few drinks and food yum.

Sorry but we're away then, so I've been told by the BOSS. Just got back from Bruges and I have a Hotel guide for you Baser. Try to bring it to the Tunnel.

Thanks for that Hugh but not going on the Tunnel run - sadly doesn't look as if Bruges trip will be on any way - already making plans though for the 2009 trip to Apathy in deepest darkest Kent lol Edited February 29, 2008 by BASER999

Sadly it looks as if theres so little interest from our own club members its going to be a non-starter this year. Keep an eye on the thread though, there might be a sudden rush in the next 2 days lol
badboy baza Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 I shall still be going over in the summer some time as I would like to visit the WW1 trenches. I am also going over for this event and may be cause a bit of intrest, http://www.weea-organisation.com/
baser999 Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 The initial thread was posted back in January and on the strength of the feedback received thus far it is obvious that this is not an event that the majority of the members of Kent Scoobies are interested in participating in. In the circumstances (and with apologies to those that did express an interest in attending) I shall not be making any further plans for this event and now consider it formally cancelled.
